Please don't mix the present with the future.....

1.There is no programme for further development of Akash Sam.
2.The Range of Barak-NG[Navy Version is 60-65kms] & That of Barak-II[IAF Version is 70 kms].There is no word regarding increasing the range of LRSAM from Drdo or IAI.Right Now Its just a speculation. It may be taken up on request of Indian Defence Forces Or Israel's but after the completion of the present project.
Akash-2 is just going be the mk-2 version of current Akash missile with drag reducing coatings. DRDO was successful in developing special coatings that reduce drag of supersonic missiles by 47% thus increasing its range by 40% and the Akash with this coating will have a considerable higher sustained speed of over mach 3 and its range will increase by 12km to bring to 42km which is exactly what the IAF wanted in the first place.

These coatings are being introduced into every missile. The current Agni-3 already has 5000km range with a full-payload which is up from its original max. payload range of 3500km. These coatings are also being introduced on the Sagarika, Shaurya, Agni-1/2/3, Prithvi missiles, Astra as well. Astra will actually have a max. range of 140km against a non-maneuvering target after it receives this coat, it also becomes a lot deadlier due to its lower drag.

Firstly, there is no Akash Mk2. All missile developments in the near future will be JVs with the Israelis or Europeans. Cheap and best.

Secondly, the coating is not paint, its Chromium. This will increase the weight of the missile and there is no guarantee that the DRDO will actually use this method. DRDO found a new method to reduce heat by rolling the missile in flight, as tested on Shourya.

Thirdly, it was not DRDO who studied it, but IISC, Bangalore. It is meant for ballistic missiles only and cannot be used on other missiles. It is meant for missiles that go over Mach 15.

A person cannot be convicted without evidence. Its the same case here................I know about the Nickle coating but can u provide any links which state that this tech is being applied on The missiles mentioned by you........

It might be applied in future,Well that's another matter...........

& By The Way - FUTURE IS UNCERTAIN........I Need Evidence Dude Not Word...

sure its chromium and initially intended for hypersonic missiles and speeds of mach 5+ and not mach 15. However DRDO found uses for it in supersonic missiles as well by altering the composition of the coating. Akash mk-2 is not a separate missile just improvements in the original missile's performance. I have no links for this because these are things i have been told when i was at Hyderabad, longer range ramjet powered Astra is also in the works.

No its not. There is no way a university can get info about Hypersonic missiles that easily. IISC's work was on ballistic missiles that go upto 11.3km/s.

You made this up again. There is no guarantee DRDO will use this method. Even if they do, it is meant for missiles with sustained flight and not for performing High G maneuvers.

Akash already has Ramjet engines.

Army says yes to 'world-class' missile: India Today - Latest Breaking News from India, World, Business, Cricket, Sports, Bollywood.

Army says yes to 'world-class' missile

The Army has finally said yes to the Akash area air defence missile system. It recently expressed interest in acquiring the 30-km range missile to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

The Army's wishlist also includes a surface-to-air 50-km range missile and a low-level quick reaction missile for ranges less than 15 km.

But the requests for these two have not been finalised yet.

The Army was engaged in a battle with the Indian Air Force (IAF) over acquiring the 50-km range missile. The IAF had said they needed the missile as they, unlike the Army, had to defend air space.

But now, the Army has told the DRDO that "we are considering induction" (of the Akash missile system). C.K. Prahlada, chief controller at the DRDO, said: "We are grateful to the Army for this decision. In fact, Akash was developed keeping the Army in mind. I have assured them a world-class missile." The DRDO has said they'd deliver the missiles within two years from the date of the order.

"It will be to the Army's specifications and at a delivery rate of its choosing. We shall provide services for upgradation and product support," Prahlada said.

The DRDO is interested in bidding for the low-level quick reaction missile that the Army needs, but it cannot pitch Trishul missile as its range is only 9 km. "We will have to develop a missile for a range of 12 km," he added.

The DRDO is also happy that the two radars of the Akash missile system are generating a lot of business for the Indian indigenous industries

atleast army saved akash but i think iaf can induct in some number as it is best options for bulk production, maintance, independent of spare parts and service

C4I CENTRES

The C4I centres are the nerve centres of the Akash group. The Group Control Centre (GCC) commands and controls four batteries. It is at the apex of the weapon system organization and interfaces with ground and airborne sensors. It establishes links with four Battery Control Centres and acts as the command and control headquarters of the Group. The GCC conducts air defense operations in a large area, in coordination with the overall air defense set-up in a zone of operations. It is based on a single mobile platform, which is self-sufficient in terms of power, communications and essential utilities for continuous operations.

The Battery Control Centre (BCC) is based on a tank vehicle for enhanced cross-country mobility. At one level, it functions as the junior partner of the GCC, while in its independent (autonomous) role, it is self-sufficient to conduct air defense operations of the Battery, in coordination with the overall air defense set-up in an area of operation. The BCC interfaces with the external C&R agencies and with a dedicated set of sensors and launchers.

Radars

3D Central Acquisition Radar (3D CAR )

The Akash Group comprises a set of surveillance radars, one at the Group HQ and the other as part of the Battery. The tracking –cum-guidance radar is only at the Battery level.

3D Central Acquisition Radar (3D CAR ) is a long-range surveillance sensor interfaced with the GCC. It provides azimuth, range and height of targets. It is capable of detecting ,tracking and processing more than 200 tracks

Battery Surveillance Radar (BSR)

The Battery Surveillance Radar (BSR) is a track vehicle based, long range sensor, interfaced with the BCC. It can detect and track upto 40 targets in range and azimuth.

Battery Level Radar (BLR)

The Battery Level Radar (BLR) is a phased array, multi-function sensor interfaced with the BCC. It acquires and tracks upto 20 targets in range, azimuth and height. Slewable and mobile, the BLR also tracks and guides upto eight missiles simultaneously towards the targets assigned by the BCC.
