It’s not the Aircraft’s fault it’s our training ‘s fault. Only our Airforce and Naval Air Arm hits birds and shit. We can’t lose fighters like this.
well!! our pilots do pit against the worlds best abroad and has made us proud..so..lets not blame their capacity.
but instead focus on some elements like pigeon breeders and other elements.. most of the time..the real reason goes underlooked vis a vis the blame game!
If Rohingyas can be made to settle near the army bases in jammu by ISI.. some pigeon breeders will be a tactic employed by a few too...
if its by design..IAF has to clamp it down

I supppose every nation has the fair share of such incidents.
Theres a lot of such studies strewn all over the internet.

Bird-hits – the new enemy IAF is struggling to defeat
Bird-hits contribute to about 10% of fighter jet accidents. IAF officers blame it on lack of bird-detection radars, manpower & filth outside air bases.

New Delhi: A spate of bird-hit incidents at major air bases have alarmed the Indian Air Force, so much so that it has filed a complaint with the local district administration of Ambala in Haryana about the increasing population of pigeons bred near the base.

Ambala is one of IAF’s frontline bases which played an active role during the Kargil conflict as the Mirage 2000s were deployed from there. In peace time it houses the Jaguar strike aircraft and the MiG-21 Bisons. More importantly, the first batch of the Rafale fighters will be based in Ambala.

In June this year, the base got a scare when a Jaguar aircraft suffered engine failure due to a bird-hit soon after take-off but managed to land safely by jettisoning its additional fuel tanks. The IAF’s worry, however, is not just limited to Ambala or the Rafales as the force is also expecting to induct upgraded aircraft in the coming months.

A sizeable problem
Last week, a Sukhoi Su-30 MKI was not so lucky in Jodhpur in neighbouring Rajasthan as it suffered major damage after a bird-hit. In fact, the Jodhpur base alone has registered 53 bird-hit cases in five years, of which nine were reported just this year.

Since 2017, the Gwalior air base has seen three bird-hits, as has the Pune air base. The Tezpur base in Assam has witnessed two incidents, while there has also been one at the Hasimara base in West Bengal.

Bird-hits contribute to about 10 per cent of the accidents faced by fighter aircraft — between April 2011 and March 2014, military pilots reported 504 such incidents. While the IAF refused to share latest consolidated numbers for bird-hits across the country, sources in the force said the problem remains a major concern.

The IAF relies on zone guns and crackers to scare away birds. India had plans to procure 45 bird-detection radars for the IAF and the Navy, but that never materialised. The tender to procure the radars at a cost of Rs 250 crore was cancelled by the government in 2015 when four firms were competing for the order.

So...lets not blame the pilots..but lets see what stopped the correction measures..
Pigeon breeding part near the airports..hmmm...thats a serious threat!
We need to kill or move these birds to somewhere else or else we will continue to lose millions of dollars of equipment daily to them. Trying to buy new planes to replace these lost ones will be a nightmare.

Why does Birds only hit Indian planes? Many Air forces around the world don’t have this problem but India, why is that? Even the Porki Camel Pee drinkers have Airbases near Karachi and Gwader but none of there aircraft crash like this both F-16 and Junk Fighter-17 Blunder. India needs to overhaul our Airforce and Naval Air Arm.
I agree to your point but please don't compare numbers with the PAF who obviously lie about their losses.

The annual attrition rate for the Pakistani F-16 fleet is supposedly 86% less that countries like Norway and USAF. That is depsite having much older planes, limited access to spares and heavy usage.

No PAF F-16 has crashed in 25+ years although some are close to 40 years old !

I'm surprised why no major military newsite has pointed this out.

The Reason i said Karachi and Gwader was because Sorcerer was talking about how the Goa base was situated near the ocean and there is a lot of birds near them. Karachi and Gwader been near the ocean and also Porki airbases are close by as week by so why aren’t there planes crashing. I am pretty sure majority of Porki F-16 are either kept in storage in case of emergencies or in frontline bases in case of major war breaking out against India. The majority of Porki Combat Air Patrols and training are still done with Older Planes and i am pretty sure the Junk Fighter-17 will most likely replace these planes and take over there roles.

Language saar language , Mind your language please . This forum has some mental illness of just blaming pilots of both IAF and IN for every crash . Do you think a fucking ejection from fighter is some fun ? ask the people who had done it and ask the people who couldn't and went down with the aircraft .

Bloody give some fucking respect to those souls who put their fucking lives to fly these fighters to defend our fucking soft ass lives sitting in our home and have the audacity to call them Mofos.

And the navy mofos wanted a twin engine fighter, .

Nobody is blaming pilots but those incharge

If today both navy and airforce chiefs grow balls and say we won't risk the lives of any pilots and ground all aircrafts the government will be forced to fund 250 crore for the bird detection radars

What is the point of flying when every second you risk the lives of pilots and millions of dollars of aircraft to birds in and around airfields.

We indians are either born stupid or have a high tolerance to stupidity

No they are not

In foreign countries bird count is even higher but foreign AF are professionals unlike ours . They have equipments and measures in place to prevent bird strikes.

Can you imagine the stupidity for around 40 million worth of radars which we are refusing to buy , every year we lose aircrafts worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

There is no accountability in this country , every single person .

Let me tell you the biggest problem in running this country - bureaucrats. IAS IPS IFS etc all these MFs.

The bureaucrats are the kingpin of all corruption and discord in the country , without them the politicians and enemies can't do jack shit.

Just a conspiracy theory.

The problem is human settlements being too close to airbases. This needs to addressed first as those bird radars will determine flocks but will not be able to help in our conditions where approach to runway is over dense settlements and some random bird can hit without much warning. South Africans have trained Caracals to catch birds around their bases. Navy should get a bird expert and see what is the problem near Dabolim area.
