Wil there be any accountability regarding this?will someone ask questions to IAF about this? defence ministry?why are we still using soviet era junk , as Modi said we were ready if they had done something to abhi but what about this?we lost 1 WC and 1 SL , are they any lesser than Abhi?lives of our soldiers are indeed cheap , they may act if some high ranking official or minister dies in such crash

We are buying C 295s in June to replace Avros. If domestic production start then follow on orders are easily given. In time AN 32s will also be replaced.

AN 32s themselves are being upgraded by Ukraine. They are pitching an upgraded version called AN 132 which is being developed for the Saudis.

In 2009, India finalised a major upgrade and life extension plan for the entire fleet of 105 An-32 aircraft acquired from Soviet Union under a $400 million deal which would extend their life to 40 years. So far, 46 aircraft have been upgraded, of which 40 were done in Ukraine.
The rest were to be carried out in India by IAF’s base repair depot in Kanpur. But the programme came to a halt after bitter relations between Moscow and Kiev following the Russian annexation of the Crimean peninsula. Mr. Donets said that the delay was mainly due to delay in securing spare parts produced in Russia and the gravity of the problem has now “decreased.”

Mr. Donets said the An-132, which is a major improvement in terms of features and performance over the An-32, makes an ideal replacement for the IAF, and offered joint production in India under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

First we have to make sure crashed one was upgraded or not. Most of crashes are attributed to overloading of aircraft and AN 32 unable to maintain lift. But overall its record is satisfactory with just 14 crashes in 25 years.

There has been massive delays in procurement of small transports. Now c295 order is placed. However I fully agree with your point.

An32 has held up well for this long. This aircraft is close to getting 35 year old. For such a long period, the number of An32 crashes is minimal. Calling these as junk is incorrect. Moreover, we have already placed order for C295 and will get it delivered in 5 years with some TOT.

Such legacy aircraft are operating already past their retirement and airworthiness. They are meant for museum and not shooting down F 16s or supply of men and material at forward airbases.

And take that question to UPA EPIC regime part 1 and 2 and answer will be

Today this Champion has made transportation free for females in Delhi, a middle income city to win elections and then we want Rafales and reliable transport aircraft for IAF.

Baba has tweeted and I am wondering too if drone based lasers are being used against our aircrafts in Arunachal Pradesh.

We need laser countermeasures on all our aircrafts operating in north east.

There are no such known Technology of drone based laser. Also, An32 is manual control plane and can't be jammed and taken down. Let the confirmation come.

Chinese are far ahead in drones. Drones carrying laser weapons are being developed in USA. We have to consider a possibility that China has already developed it.

Blinding a pilot is possible even if controls are manual.

You throw anything on the floor these 'bharwey' come sniffing pick it up and then start barking against India. Porki obsession of India has become so psychotic that everything thing they find in Indian newspaper they spin it into a conspiracy theory. Last time I heard these Beggar were rationing wheat to feed themselves in a crisis. Now they want India to beg for opening the air space.

It is costing carriers serious money to have to fly around the closed air space. If they do not reopen it soon India will have to invade and force them to obey international law.

You can blind a pilot with a laser pointer, that is nothing advanced. The laser designator in the optical package can do it at even greater range.

Pakistan also loses money from flights travelling in its airspace. Some money lost by planes is recovered by not paying pakistan the fee. Some losses will have to be passed on yo customers. But it is minimal enough for international passengers. But pakistan has to bear much higher pain due to their already worsening economy

This is not India's headache to make Pakistan obey international laws.

India does not see it as any kind of Chip that Pakistan has. LOL

Pakistan is losing money that is good enough for us.

India OTOH is able to absorb these marginal costs especially with inflation in check the hike in fares is not pinching.

For argument sake, if people think it is a chip that Pakistan is using against India then it is the worst kind of precedence they are setting. India will have all the rights to block its sea and communication routes and for that matter anything that passes through POK.

Pakistan is living in a bubble where he thinks Indians are timid and won't escalate. Pakistani bravado is just a pop of that bubble surviving at the mercy of India.

Pakistanis if are half the clever they pretend to be will be reading the pattern and how India has not given half the fuck about their tantrums. The escalation is already set in motion and the method is already adjusting to multiple factors.

Indian carriers are operating on thin margins. Just look at what happened to Jet Airways. The cost of flying around Pakistan is not making things any easier for their wallets. The price of air fares has climbed 20-25% for international passengers coming from any of the Western routes that usually cross Porkistan. If you could just bomb PAF and the IADs it would solve the problem. The CdG will do it if we have to but we could make it a joint operation.
