Turkey occupies and maintains a military presence in 'Northern Cyprus'.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades met on the sidelines of the UNGA, India reiterated India's consistent support for the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity of the Republic of Cyprus. Turkey occupies and maintains a military presence in 'Northern Cyprus'. The relations between the two countries had worsened under Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Anastasiades speaking from UNGA said, according toWION, "Turkey threatens Cyprus that there will be severe consequences if we proceed ahead with our energy programme... it threatens neighbouring states and energy companies, with which we are cooperating and have established conventional obligations".

Erdogan raised the Kashmir issue during his address at the United Nations, saying it is imperative to solve the problem through "dialogue on the basis of justice, equity, and not through collision". Turkey is the only Muslim country to have supported Pakistan after India revoked Article 370 of the Constitution, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir on August 5. In his speech before at the UN General Assembly, Erdogan said the stability and prosperity of South Asia cannot he separated from the Kashmir issue. "One of the problems to which the international community still does not devote enough attention is the Kashmir conflict, which awaits a solution for 72 years," he said in his address to the general debate on Tuesday. Earlier, Prime Minister Khan had met President Erdogan on the sidelines and discussed with him bilateral relations and the latest situation since India revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

About time. Turkey has always backed Pakistan and irritated us, under Erdogan open hostility from their end. To think that SOB has a huge fan following among a certain section in India and was honoured by a certain college in Delhi

Let them enjoy their friendship with Bakis, let us do what is sensible for a change. Congress never had the guts, good to see a party with a spine in charge now.

Greece and Armenia up next, time to put the Turks in their place.

They also have a 2.3 bn $ contract to build ships for Indian Navy, cancel that ASAP.

Kurdistan, Cyprus, Greece and Armenia all have to be courted fervently by India.
Erdogan needs to be taught a lesson.
Turks have been fucking with us wrt pakistan for some time now, they are so bloody far apart & are getting nothing out of pakis and their failed state yet their corrupt ideology denies the Turks the common sense.

All the people who are saying we should stop business with Turkey should realise that the trade between India and Turkey amounts to some 7 billion dollars. Most of it favors India. We have turks riding Bajaj Pulsar's.
So can we stop with this "No Trade" nonsense please.
It's geopolitics guys and India is no saint. Another question is what if that Islamofascist Erdogan loses election and those militant Athiests Kemalists comes to power. Kemalists are one of the most Anti Islam people.

Stopping trade in today's geo-political scenario is like committing suicide. Remember we even gave MFN status to the porks and porks committed a blunder by not giving it to us. We don't wanna be Porki Porks, do we?

Erdogan is probably looking for nukes.

There are also fears that besides buying fuel or even a nuclear weapon from friend Pakistan, Turkey could also resort to stealing a US hydrogen bomb from the Incirlik Air Base in southeast Turkey. The US has stored around 50 nuclear bombs in Incirlik, and the air base has played a key role in its operations against the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.

Good thing is not to react emotionally or stupidly like Turkey has done. Turkey's shipyard should have never been allowed in the first place in the competition as they have close defence ties with Pakistan.

But going around with Greeks and Cypriots? Just have photo sessions and be done with it. We have nothing to threaten Turkey with unless we start providing weapons to Southern Cyprus and Greece. Nor have an economic leverage as India as trade sulprus with them (to 4B).

Let's have some Chanakya brain. Keep mouth shut, make India an inalienable part of world's supply & logistics ecosystem and start having a go at each & everyone against India's interest. It might take another 10 or 15 years only. Patience is a virtue.

Imran Khan told Erdogan that 'Pakistan fully understands Turkey's concerns relating to terrorism' and the 'threats and challenges being faced by Turkey.'
Beirut: Pakistan's prime minister has offered rare backing for Turkey's invasion of Syria, a deadly cross-border incursion that started this week and has already displaced tens of thousands.

Friday's government statement says Prime Minister Imran Khan called Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to express "support and solidarity."

It says Khan told Erdogan that "Pakistan fully understands Turkey's concerns relating to terrorism" and the "threats and challenges being faced by Turkey" as it has lost 40,000 people in acts of terrorism in recent years.

Khan said he is praying that "Turkey's efforts for enhanced security, regional stability and peaceful resolution of the Syrian situation are fully successful." Erdogan is due to visit Pakistan later this month.

France to start EU sanctions and suspension of Turkey's NATO membership

When asked whether Turkey’s NATO membership should be suspended. She spoke on France Inter radio.

“Obviously this is on the table. You can imagine that we are not going to stay powerless in the face of a situation that is totally and absolutely shocking for civilians, shocking for Syrian forces that have been backing the work of the coalition for the past five past years. It’s shocking for the stability of the region,” she added, when asked about sanctions.

Well described. Everyone in India thinks of themselves as master diplomat and has just the idea of stopping trade with any one going against you. This habbit of thinking of ourselves more important than we actually are gives fools a free reign. World situation is changing and China and Russia again are becoming bigger players, whom you can't ignore. We need to work ourselves up to double the current economy to have some meaningful say in matters outside the region.
