Afghan and Pakistani border guards clash in Torkham

By Khaama Press - Sun Jun 12 2016

A clash is underway among the Afghan and Pakistani border guards in Torkham gate amid reports that the incident erupted over the installation of a gate by Pakistan.

Provincial governor’s spokesman in Nangarhar confirmed the incident but said further details regarding the clash would be released later.

Another local official however confirmed that the Afghan forces prevented the Pakistani border guards to install a gate in Torkham which resulted into the clash.

There are no reports regarding the casualties as a result of the incident so far.

This comes as tensions intensified among the Afghan and Pakistani border guards along Torkham in mid-May but the issue was resolved due to diplomatic intervention by the officials of the two countries.

Both the Afghan and Pakistani forces deployed additional troops and heavy military equipment including tanks due to the growing tensions.
The Torkham gate remained close for at least four days before the officials of the two countries agreed to end the deadlock.

The area is controlled by the Frontier Corps, a paramilitary force. The shelling has stopped but the PA has not entered the area yet.

No confirmation about the casualties yet though the Afghani twitteratis are claiming to have killed up to 20 Pakistanis.

What is the f*****g problem with these Afghanis? Unlike the Angoor Adda, the Torkham gate is on our side of the border and we want to seal it.

There is a thing called Durand Line and it means YOU PAKIS are ILLEGALLY OCCUPYING the land of Afgans.

You ILLEGALLY OCCUPIED Bangladesh and it got freed.
You are ILLEGALLY OCCUPYING Balochistan and doing genocide of Baloch.
You are ILLEGALLY OCCUPYING Sindh as well.

Durand Line - the land of Afgans

Below should be the map of Afganistan and Afgans should never back down and get back some respect which Un-Islamic Pakistan is trying to loot. Pakis destroyed Afganistan by Taliban.

This SHOULD be the future map of Pakistan.

=======================================================================================
See how a Paki is ABUSING Afgans and the story of Durand Line.

Where is Torkham? Is it disputed by Afghanistan? I read somewhere that they claim Pakistan all the way upto the Indus river. In all comprising some 60 percent of Pakistani territory. Any correlation there? I don't know much about AF-Pak territory dispute.

Army soldier injured in firing at Torkham border
By Tahir Khan
Published: June 13, 2016

ISLAMABAD: Afghan forces opened fire at the Torkham border crossing, injuring a soldier, Pakistan Army said.

According to the military’s media wing, Afghan forces began firing as Pakistan started constructing a gate on their side of the border, as a “necessity to check unwanted and illegal movement of terrorists through Torkham.”

“At about 21:20 hours tonight, Afghan Security forces resorted to unprovoked firing on Pakistani side at Torkham Gate,” the ISPR said on Sunday.

A soldier was injured due to Afghan firing, the statement said, adding that the Pakistani security forces responded to the Afghan firing effectively.

Torkham is the most frequent crossing point at Pak-Afghan border, and most of the terrorists have been found using this gate for entry, the statement said.

Border management system starts functioning at Torkham

Meanwhile, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province, Attaullah Khogyani, confirmed the exchange of fire but did not provide further details.

The incident came days after Pakistan introduced a new mechanism along the border, which requires every Afghan to carry travel documents to enter Pakistan.

Earlier, thousands of Afghans living near the border would cross into Pakistan without passports and visas.

Pakistan said the new system was put in place to curb cross-border movement of militants who would take advantage of the loose border monitoring system.

Pakistan is like a "unprovoked firing" magnet. it's always the other guy's fault somehow, never their own.

Victim hood mentality at it's best.

I like it. 20 is a good number. We should supply Afghan force with best of the class sniper and Ex caliber and some training along with ultra light 18 KM guns we have recently developed. Believe me Porkies will piss in their pant.

Ha ha remind me of our own LOC fencing in the early 2000.

One army engineer escorted by 3 infantry troops , that was the approx buildup with daily Arty Duals, small arms fire, air strikes and even cross border raid the famous being at Nadala.

Mushy soon signed the 2003 cease agreement and thus Army finished the Fencing with Ease.

@Neo is the terrain flat in that area, because the report mentions Tanks being deployed by both the sides.

Another thing with the new Afghani dispensation, is the Durand line issue being raked up?

I have travelled to the Khyber Pass in this area. The terrain is quite hostile and not suitable for tanks unless they use the existing extensive road network.

Durand Line is dead and a non issue for us. There are 30-40 million Pashtuns on our side vs 15 million in Afghanistan. Pak Pashtuns, specially the youth has little respectsfor their Afghan brothers these days.
