Also what we additionally need is something like this

Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) rocket guidance kit.

The FZ family also has guided rounds

But we also need to develop similar indigenous products on the same lines.

Can anyone explain to me the need for / role of the LUH compared to the ALH?

I understand from previous reports that its for High Altitude Ops but isn't ALH already being used for this? I see them delivering supplies in Siachen already. So why LUH which is on paper less capable?

Why are we insisting on having these 2 separate choppers in an already crowded inventory when the ALH can easily become a universal battlefield utility helicopter (like the Blackhawk) which is the accepted global norm?

Is there some spectacular capability in LUH or deficiency in ALH I am missing?
LUH has almost 500 meter extra servidce ceiling at 6.5k meters than Dhruv which means it can operate in extreme heights of Siachen when Dhruv cannot operate there. Right now only Chetak and Cheetah i.e. HAL manufactured Alouette III variants can only operate at that height. Since Eurocopter Fennec deal was cancelled on graft allegations, LUH has become the sole modern helicopter able to operate at that altitude.

It's a single engine helicopter, smaller & lighter!
As such, price of the helo and cost of maintenance will be lower.
Also, the smaller size will help it operate/land in tricky terrain (including landing on smaller ships)

what's happening at UAV front guyz? Not much reporting as far as Rustom/Tapas UAV's are concerned.

@Enquirer where did you get those pics of Tapas UAV's as I haven't found them anywhere else?
Can you put some light what's there present status or any other update?
