First flight of TD would be by 2024, as I recall reading somewhere.. Or will it be sooner?
Apparently so... First FOC took air 12 months from metal-cutting. So 18 months is a safe estimate.

Thankfully these stuff aren't affected by fund shortages & they already have F414 laid by. Design is ready & they're starting metal-cutting from Feb (that's on schedule actually).

Then there should probably be room for ordering a few more squadrons of MK1A's before MK2's start arriving in numbers; right?
If they stay on schedule, that means 5 years of Mk1A production before shifting over.
In other words, the existing order of 83 = 16 per year.

I am not sure they can increase production without adding more assembly lines, which in turn would be dependent on a larger firm order than the 83 perhaps?

No at worst the last mk1a rolls out by late 28 or early 29 and by then all the testing on mk2 should be done and full rate production should start

We will get all the engines before s400 delivered. So no implications of catsa on GE 414 engine delivery as the orders are already placed.

What about CAATSA ? What if USA stops supplying us GE engines?
USA cannot do to India what they do to other countries. Of course we are not a threat or in a position to challenge them, but because of the large Indian diaspora in the US, they can only take it to a level that disappoints India and not Indians.

Also, with China being their enemy, India is the only next big country that can given them a good market for their products.

India should buy engines and spares in advance to last for next 10 years atleast maybe we will come with our indigenous engines in next 10 years

USA won’t allow us to use Tejas against Pakistan if we do they will stop supplying engines and spares Tejas will mostly be used against China
There is nothing of that sort in the contract. They are not giving it to us as AID as how F-16's were provided to Pakistan.

USA stopped supplying us engines after 1998 nuclear tests
USA is not Russia it’s highly unpredictable country and rising India is also seen as a threat to American hegemony over the world

They had a rule back then and even now that they would embargo any country that tests nuclear weapons. There is no such rule or law that says they would embargo India for attacking Pakistan. If that's the case, then the small arms that we have of American origin cannot be fired against Pakistan.

Pakistan being our arch enemy is the only reason why we have a big arms market, Americans cannot be unhappy about it if they want a peace of that pie.
