Why would they go for f21 when it's a newly painted f16.
So you want the same plane as Pakistan with new paint an AESA radar and a few more A2A missiles(which is of no use generally) and a touch screen cockpit.
If allowed the Turks could update the f16 with what they have now.

F21 or viper is far more advance than anything porkies have.
Turks can't upgrade jets of porkies as porkies don't have f16 source code.
Besides if the entire production line of f16 is shifted to india we get to manufacture critical spare parts too and thus we can control exports of spares.

They said it during last aero india, f16 production line from will be shifted texas facility to india.
Thery are offering way better deal than frenchs.

I don't think IAF consider another 4/4.5 gen heavy weight fighter, means both f15 & su35 having very less chance. In the case of single engine jet, IAF consider gripen & IAF never consider F16s or F21, due to S400, F35, PAF, US alliance, US anti India nature etc. In the case of twin engine jet, IAF always choose eft & rafale. Both mig35 & sh having less chance compared to eft & rafale.
IAF need both mk2 & mrfa, and mrfa can't replace mk2 but mk2 can replace mrfa. IAF cry for mrfa till mk2 achieve foc.

When will IAF and MOD wake the fuck up and realize that economy of scale is an important criteria!!!!???? Su-30 MKI with its upgrade package is more than enough to contend with F-15 and its EW suite and weapons package.

IAF not ordering mk1a, mk2 will go by production by 2027 but obviously it will be delayed by 2yrs.
All I am saying is having a single engine jet will be better than not having any jet.
IAF anyway looks more commited to mrfa than lca program.
