AMCA will get CCA approval by early 2022, well do we have any such news on MK2
Looks like MOD is involved in dalali .

Is hamam mein sab nange hai
Mk2 should have been already approved by CCS. If not how did they issued tenders for jig assembly abd how did they paid for assembly??

Mk2 has been funded by Government for more than a decade now. Its technically termed FSED Phase III of LCA. Although I haven't seen official documents ever since the Mk2 evolved from being a 1 meter plug to a re-design. Maybe they call it FSED Phase IV now?

How long is testing anticipated to take to get to the stage where a production order can be placed? And how long between order placement and first delivery? I bear in mind that Mk1A was ordered off the drawing board, so to speak, albeit being very similar to Mk1.

Yes mk2 was originally sanctioned in 2009. Then it evolved in 2013-14 and finally evolved into MWF. While mk1a was sanctioned as stop gap measure.

I don't what phase it is now but recently reports are that critical design review is done and actul metal cutting is on track.

Mk2 will be directly build as production standard jet. In 4-5 years of flight testing we will be mass producing the jet. Jig assembly called for 24 unit annum production rate .

Deccan Herald article on Tejas Mk2. As of now the project is still moving ahead.

- Indigenous content to go up to 70% from 62% on Mk1A
- 410 private firms to supply to the Tejas Mk2 program compared to 344 for the Tejas Mk1A
- CDR was completed on Nov 15, with 20 sub-systems' CDR being done with IAF
- Metal cutting to start soon. Acquisition of components to start soon. Jigs and fixtures will be set up
- Targeted roll-out of Tejas Mk2 prototype in December 2022 (1 year from now, which is quite ambitious)
- First flight targeted in end 2023

Boon for Indian industries waiting in wings of LCA Mk2

Cutting-edge technology and more indigenisation - This is the mandate of the LCA Tejas AF Mark 2 project which completed its Critical Design Review (CDR) this week. The clearance will allow hundreds of Indian private firms to participate in the most advanced aircraft project to date in the country.

ADA sources speaking with DH described the Mark 2 as a 4.5-generation machine that will not only have 70 per cent indigenisation (as opposed to the 62 per cent of the Mark IA), but will incorporate more advanced technologies to be built in India. “The aircraft’s increased indigenisation quotient will be increased by the replacement of imported components and systems with locally manufactured units,” said sources at the
Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) which is the nodal agency for the design and development of the LCA. “We have already ascertained that all the raw materials are available for production months ago. We will have 410 private firms across the country supplying Line Replacement Units (LRUs) and other components -- up from the 344 private firms for the Mark IA,” an ADA source said.

According to defence sources, the long-awaited CDR, which was supposed to happen in July, was finally completed on November 15, with up to 20 sub-systems being individually cleared by the Indian Air Force (IAF). “Metal cutting will soon start. The acquisition of components will start. In addition, jigs and fixtures will be set up. We are aiming for a rollout in December 2022, although the aircraft will not be moved and a first flight tentatively is fixed for the end of 2023,” an ADA source said, adding that the programme will benefit from the earlier Mark I project as many of the core technologies will be taken from from the project and superimposed on the new programme.

I am surprised it is only 70%. F414 should cost <$10 million. UTTAM will replace ELTA radar. Cobham parts will be replaced by indigenous. Apart from the engine, where is the high cost foreign content?
SDR, ejection seat, IFR probe.
EDIT: Cannon as well.

When is a large production order likely to be placed? The later that is likely to be, the more IAF can argue that 114 foreign fighters are needed. I read on this forum or elsewhere that IAF does not want more Mk1A to make up its fighter shortfall. If 114 foreign fighters are ordered to do roughly what Mk2 should do, how will that affect Mk2 order numbers?

Add actuators to the list of imported components. They have developed indigenous actuators for the AMCA, but it may eventually replace the imported ones on the Mk2 going forward. Titanium ingots will also very likely be imported.
