Not new from the scratch but modified, lca timelines doesn't hold for mk2
Of course I didn't mean lca timelines will hold. But expect atleast 5 years from first flight to IOC-SP1 if everything goes smoothly. In fact of we can do it in 5 years, we can proudly state that India has 'arrived' at the global aerospace design and development 'club' as far as fighter jets are considered. If there is anything that holds back us from rolling out a potent 5th gen fighter, it will be the lack of a suitable engine

To me failure of mk2 will be if mk1a deliveries end and production line comes to stop or rate of production has to slow down to cater to delays in mk2 testing. Ada has to complete test for max aoa, str, speed within ioc testing unlike tejas. They can't do any structural changes after ioc, this should be their goal imho.

A slight bulge near canard & body joint which was not present in earlier models or atleast i am seeing for the first time. Can't wait for prototype rollout, but also first flight.

Not the first time we are seeing it, and I suspect (this is just a guess and could possibly be proven as really stupid) it may also have to do something with rear visibility when the canard pitches.

Maybe the bulge wasn't pronounced due to the angle in pics i have seen or i could have completely overlooked it. Thanks for correcting me. By the way there is nothing stupid in speculating, overthinking will only imped your curiosity.

Wasn't that slot on the wing supposed to be removed as per......

"The slot which redirects some of this air over the wing in MK1 is eliminated in MWF, as smooth flow over the wings behind the canards is desirable."
Couldn't be sure till we see the real thing. They are quite close to rolling out the prototype now that we probably won't see any new models.

that's why they added few meters in the frame of mk2.
what we know about mk2 upgrade:

new and bigger radar
smaller nose cone
retractable refueling probe (most probably one used in jaguar )
IRST
few senors upgrade
lighter HUD
Why jaguar, do have any official/unofficial info on this.
