Personal optimism has nothing to do with official timelines.

Mark1A order has nothing to do with Mark2 rollout & first flight. Platform design is done, subsystem tech development will go on.

Mark1A order has nothing to do with Mark1A either... Every credible source I asked, has confirmed that the signing is just a formality to happen at its own time. The work for the delivery & to convert LSPs to Mark1A standard for certification, are both going at their own pace.
So fund crunch doesn't matter anymore?
Or lacklustre pace of bureaucracy that has shown itsef in every other program concerning Indian defense procurement?

For Mark1A funds will be released when made available. But LCA manufacture is already going on, just some LRUs will change.

For the 4 Mark2 LSPs to take first flight, the funds are not an issue. Design is frozen, engine delivered & metal cutting will begin.

Bdw many Don't know many mark1a features are already tested....or will be tested in a short time
Like 4 bvrs with Centerline drop tank(Ada is in progress to prove it with Tejas)
Long range bvr(astra integration on)
supersonic drop tank(already built, but not tested yet)
Bdw irst is planned for mk1a(also work is in progress)
Uttam aesa will be tested in its final configuration mated with ew system and other subsystems ,first in ground , before it goes to an aircraft

Again on mwf after wings ,tyres ,drop tanks ....also tender issued for various mwf subsystem s ...
And mwf is a different project from mk1a

2023 -24 mk1a variant first flight
And mwf lsp first flight. ..... .
Ada is planning to complete the mwf programme in 5 years...from first flight to .. production variant

Tejas Mk1A is HAL owned program where ADA has no role except they will continue transfer the technology to HAL just to keep Tejas MK1 up to date while Tejas mk2 is a purely ADA program. HAL's Aircraft Research and Design Centre will do the needful changes and testing of new systems.

So surely, there will be a overlapping going to happen schedule vise but MK1a will get enough time as MK2 will not going into production readily because there is procedural delays everywhere/Every time.

Most likely, MK2 would come into production in late 2028 or early 2029 .

Mark2 will take over the Su-30 Nasik line.

Possibly 1:1 mockup at Aero India 2021... Metal cutting was to start at April 2021 for LSP... 2022 prototype rollout as per schedule... First flight by 2023 end, followed by few (this is which can't be predicted) years of flight testing.
so ambitious... Too i'm afraid.

Get informed then. Tenders are already out for construction.

Fullscale production targetted only by 2028, induction 2029... Quite realistic.
I hope you learn from Tejas experience.

He says detailed design phase has started.
So, I'm not sure what you mean when you say that its frozen.

Unless all internal subcomponent specifications( which is what detailed design entails) has been completed, 'metal cutting' seems impossible. Not to forget there's plenty of virtual design testing required between these phases.
And so the claims of airframe construction to begin within a year seem hard to believe.

It's him who confirmed metal-cutting is to begin on schedule at April 2021.
Detail design & tool design a final finetunings for stuff like landing gear or fuel-plumbing.

Plus your & their estimates are off by a year only, 2023-end against 2025.

Bdw Ada is hiring team enginner s with experience in production. (Contractual)....for mwf project
And it's time line is 60 months ...

No prediction. Just some fear because of the past.
Your fear is irrational regarding mk2.
First LSP will come out within given time as they working on modular design. Wings design is complete and tender is opened other parts will soon follow as detailed design would complete.

Testing will take time and it's true that is most time consuming and unpredictable. But ADA can speed up testing with help of Mk1's LSPs. Lots of system going to test on mk1 testbed that's why ADA planned only four LSP for Mk2.

Not irrational, but unfounded in this case. But surely expected.

Foreigners don't know the internal dynamics of India as well ad we do. People like @BON PLAN have seen Tejas during our 2 lost decades & commenting based on that.

Looking to its MTOW, GE414 seems underpowered. I am sure that they must be looking for GE414 EPE. Simply, 58 KN dry and 98KN afterburner is not sufficient to power an aircraft of 17.5 MTOW.
