Indeed, if IAF requests an integrated IRST then the "not upto future standards" drama might ensue again. What is interesting is this proves canards is confirmed on LCA mk2. See the CAD diagram.
Anyways no IRST ?
that will be a mistake if not installed.
Iaf says medium category.....................So, LCA Mk2 is also a light fighter or a medium one?
At ~17t MTOW Tejas MK-2 is in Mirage2000 class which according to IAF is an M-MRCA. So MK-2 will be called a medium fighter. So, LCA Mk2 is also a light fighter or a medium one?
A while ago there were articles on the Tejas Mk2 being designated a medium weight fighter. So, LCA Mk2 is also a light fighter or a medium one?

Also look at the modification in canopy shape for improved aerodynamics.Tejas mk2 with canards and stub wings.

No reasonya
is there some reason for it not getting installed on MK2?
Yep. It's better to get more Rafales than introduce another variant in the mix else it'll just become a logistical nightmare! What will be powering this Tejas MKII GE F414 or Safranised Kaveri Engine ?
@Bhoot Pishach MMRCA-2 now purely depends on Modi coming back to power . If BJP comes back with majority then i think MMRCA-2 will be more Rafales nothing else . If not then god knows what will come out of this round .
The future inventory of IAF should be
Tejas
Rafale
Su30MKI
AMCA
Yes, MMRCA-2 is just hogwash. No other 4.5 gen jet can be better then Rafale. What will be powering this Tejas MKII GE F414 or Safranised Kaveri Engine ?

Anyone else curious about 'stub wing'??Tenders out for jigs for Tejas MK2 assembly, including cross-section diagrams
Front fuselage assembly
https://hal-india.co.in/Common/Uploads/TenderDoc/19865_TenderPDF1_RFI FF.pdf
Centre fuselage/Mid-section
https://hal-india.co.in/Common/Uploads/TenderDoc/19864_TenderPDF1_RFI CF.pdf
Rear fuselage
https://hal-india.co.in/Common/Uploads/TenderDoc/19866_TenderPDF1_RFI RF.pdf
Estimated length= 6.1m (F) + 4.5m (C) + 3.3m (R) = 13.9m. Mk1 is 13.2m.
So MK2 is officially 0.7m longer than Mk1/Mk1A
