I don't why people feed these kinds of news. The order for 20 FOC was given way back and it's not going to get converted to anything else.

They may bring certain features from Mk1a but certainly not the full set.

Cannot see how Mk.1A can come so soon, 21st SP will be delivered in mid-2019,the Mk.1A hasn't even taken to the skies as of yet. I understand that Mk.1A is mostly Mk.1 FOC with some addtional features but I'd be surprised if the validation and certification process could be so compressed and the fact is neither the AESA radar nor SPJ has been selected, it takes at least 2-3 years to get these delivered. Something is going on because HAL should've selected the AESA and SPJ by now.

+ F414 for MK.1/A isn't going to happen, that will take a long time also and so far only 6 414s have been ordered and (2-4 have already been sent to India for MK.2).
Don't worry some fanboy will always dream of F-414 on MK1A.

I think HAL's only contribution to 1A will be the changes in the manufacturing method and reducing the components & screws in the jet to make it true modular design and in turn reducing the current period of production of single jet.

It will in turn will help in reducing the weight of the MK1A by some kgs, thats the only gain otherwise 1A is FOC with AESA & IRF probe.

MK1A is not going to be any different than MK1 in terms of construction. Both are same in outer body. Only subsystems have been added like IFR probe, EW and a few upgrades.

The change in modularity will require redesign of fuselage itself. That is being done in Mk2. Why do it again in MK1A? However, F414 may be a possibility as the size of f404 is same as F414 and the air intakes of Tejas has been designed with margins.

What? Turkey is exporting more than 1 billion usd weapons. We r no where in the list. Last year Turkey won contract for upgrading Pakistan submarines. Can we even refurbish our submarines on own? They hav pretty succesfull avionics products like aselpod, drones etc. We r still behind turkeý in this areas.
If we only start aggressive marketing of existing products a player like Turkey won't be visible even in our rear-view mirror.

Since you mentioned, few of our existing products that Turkey does not have: SSBNs, AEWCS, MRCA(Tejas), BVRAAM, Aircraft carries etc.

It's just a matter of time when Tejas starts getting exported. Preferably after Kaveri gets operational.

Design of LCA Tejas’ next version almost done, AESA Radar next month
March 26, 2018
By: Tribune News Service

Talking about the next version of the Tejas, called ‘Mark1-A’, Dr Christopher said: “The design other than the AESA radar and the jammer pod is complete.” Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is looking to import the AESA radar even as DRDO made a radar that will be tested next month.

The IAF is looking at 83 ‘Mark1-A’, with 59 improvements over the existing Tejas.

The Indian Air Force has projected a need for 324 fighter jets over 15 years and has officially indicated that it needs the ‘Tejas Mark 2’ (medium combat aircraft). It will carry a more powerful engine and weigh almost 20 per cent heavier than Tejas.

how do u know this pics are test mission and strike mission and iaf going to use same in war too?? there is thing called flexibility
Because those are the same ADA has officially planned for Tejas in different mission configs and were part of the flight testing for IOC and FOC. They even tested Tejas in the same config at Leh, to prove that it could be used in that config at that location if the need arise.
There is also something called knowledge, that's why informing yourself before claiming baseless things like Rahul does is important, because the truth includes both good and bad things and not just the things you would like to hear or want to imagine.

MK1A is = FOC + AESA, new EW and some maintenance improvements.

That's why HAL initially even stated, that they can deliver the 20 FOCs into MK1A standard if required. But what people don't understand or don't want to hear, is that everything starts with ADA!

Only if ADA finally achieves FOC certification, IAF will give HAL the go ahead with MK1A. But since 2013 we see ADA failing to deliver to multiple time lines.
In addition to that, we have the issues of HAL themselves, be it the production delays, or the still not fixed MK1A upgrade, with no AESA / EW selected so far. Did IAF approved a winner? Are the contracts signed? When will the assembly / licence production of radar and EW starts?

As long as these issues are not fixed, all HAL can do, is to convince IAF to approve the production of at least those parts, that remain the same as IOC versions to keep the production running.

Such big mouth scientists should be held accountable for missed deadlines.
Yes scientist should be held accountable, but in this case, he is talking about the start of MK1A production, which should include an off the shelf AESA, which however is not selected yet.
So he confirms that HAL wants to start the production as soon as possible, because they can't afford to stop production, but that the off the shelf AESA was not integrated and tested yet and work for the MK1A upgrade remains.

WION/DNA coverage on LCA

T Suvarna Rao
Link to the full episode plz.

Interesting, T Suvarna Raju, the CMD in Flight Suit. Maybe he has also flown in Tejas T. PR is really getting aggressive.

Once Tejas reaches 16+8 per year rate, meeting small-scale export order won't be any hard.

They say design is complete and only jammer pod and Radar is left. HAL will buy off the shelf radar and with performance comparison with Drdo radar, it will choose the best. That means mk1a is well off for 2 to 3 years.

Cannon and refuelling aerial test can also rest in peace.

Good or not, the radar will be UTTAM. If it is not upto the mark, feedback will be given to correct the errors.

I don't know why this all is happening..
BUT, let's get some facts right:

No IAF fighter is equipped with AESA as of now.. Rafael will come in couple of years.

Its not like without AESA, there will be no radar.. Elta 2032 is there, so don't worry.
