Still IAF top brass running behind russian junks and expensive western jets . Dump single engine fighter jet tender order more tejas
Agreed, Kaveri will be ready and foreign components can be replaced over time in further upgrade batches. It just needs to maintain modularity so it is easy and cheap to pull out.

Agree these guys started mmrca drama in 2000 for 126 jets. But we will get only 36 jets by 2022. Now they r selling another single engine jet snake oil drama.

Meanwhile IDRW publishes article on the same video w/o posting video and half data as mentioned in the video and just look at the shitty comment section and commentors it has got.

Sorry out of context but can't stop from bit mentioning of these western media fanboys.

Honestly, Single Engine tender should be scrapped asap and 300+ tejas should be ordered in various configurations, these configurations should be developed to outperform western single engine jets.....We've got the technology, we' ve got the funds , we only need political will....

Can Wrap up LCA-Tejas Production in 3 Years: HAL Chief
Published September 30, 2017 SOURCE: RAUNAK KUNDE / NEWS BEAT / IDRW.ORG T.

Suvarna Raju Chairman of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) speaking to CNBC-TV18 said that HAL can scale production of LCA-Tejas from 16 aircraft to 24 aircraft per annum if its Tier 1 and Tier 2 Suppliers of Wings, Front, and Rear fuselage can scale up their production line. Raju said that orders for 83 Tejas MK-1A placed by Indian Air force can be wrapped up in just over 3 years if we can produce 24 aircraft per annum. Raju also confirmed that 5 more LCA-Tejas Serial Production aircraft will be delivered to Indian Air Force by end of this Fiscal year (FY17-18). SP-10 and SP-11 LCA-Tejas aircraft can be seen already on the assembly rig and SP-7 and SP-8 can be seen in Final Assembly hangar and it is anticipated that it could complete its maiden first flights in coming weeks. Raju also said that LCA-Tejas Trainer aircraft could also be marketed to Indian Air Force as a Trainer aircraft to train future fighter pilots. if accepted LCA-Tejas Trainers aircraft will not only be used to train pilots how to fly LCA-Tejas but also other aircraft in the air force fleet. Known as Lead-in fighter training (LIFT) concept which uses Supersonic trainer jets to train new pilots for a smooth transaction from subsonic trainer jets to frontline fighter jets has been introduced in some advance airforce around the world. IAF recently moved to Two-Stage Pilot training program after HAL developed HJT-36 Intermediate jet which was to replace aging Kiran MK2 aircraft in Stage-2, was rejected by Indian Air Force after it failed to clear Stall and Spin trials, which are considered absolutely necessary for trainer aircraft certifications.

Problem with these articles is that when a bad news comes up it is a core analysis, word to word.
They analyse the F-16/gripen articles bit by bit of it's DNA and come up with a even F**ed up biased article.
Did these article mentions about :
Mahindra
Vemtech
3000+ MSMEs

Does it discuss about the accuracy of manufacturing involved, i,e 0.1 times of a micron, which is according to world standards?
Does it discuss that the test pilot is saying that in terms of point defense capabilities it is second to none, that coming from both pilots of 45SQ and HAL test pilot?
Does it discuss Tejas's contribution in developing the Indigenous industry?

Above all it sates itself a IDRW News Beat or exclusive article w/o posting video and w/o full summary of video.

I don't know if HAL is screwed or not but they seriously need a strong PR system!

the limitation is the orders the IAF has cgiven a firm agreement for, it doesn't make economic sense to expand production to 24/year for jsut 83 units hence HAL have capped production at 16/year but can increase this to 24/year with minimal investment on their side just more outsourcing to the private sector.

If the GoI are serious about "Make in India" or increasing the private sector's particiaption in the defence sector they will commit to vast LCA orders instead they are content on throwing tens of billions at an outdated foreign jet that will be all but assembled abroad.....

Honestly there is ZERO justification for a foreign single engine fighter anymore, not with the LCA now in production and kinks being worked out. The IAF doesn't need anything other than the LCA and Rafale in large numbers for the next 10 years, if the GoI moves to get any other jet, especially the F-16, they should be hanged.

I have been saying this single engine programme which worth $ 12 billion is nothing but to kill the tejas mk2 project. If the GOI/MOD decided on it then it would be most insulting and darkest hours in the history of domestic combat aircraft development and manufacturing effort.

Let us all write our argument to PMO website...well I did that sometime back & got reply that they forwarded that to HAL..
I have basically asked them to increase production rate for Tejas..

Typical sarkari daftar behaviour. File and letter just keep changing places but nothing happens, These goons will either buy a old man on steroids or a literally paper tiger prototype and with all fake pride label it as "Make in India" actually doing the same what congress did but this time with a private party probably a friend and branding that process and marketing it well!

But at last the Indian aerospace sector gains nothing more than a assembly line but some people do get their pocket filled for a nice Merc may be!

These people have 12 Bn$ for a foreign maal but can't sanction barely 2 Bn$ for R&D of this country!

AF Tejas mk 2 will be a near fifth genelation fighter aircraft with configuration such as higher thrust engine, AESA radar, internal EW suit, OBOGS, larger internal fuel capacity, larger payload capacity and better aerodynamic performance than its sibling mk1. It is comparable to Gripen E and even better in some aspects such as mtow, range, service ceiling and anti airfield strike capability etc.
