here’s activity on the radar front too. Balaji’s team will freeing up LCA Tejas LSP-2 shortly for ground integration of India’s indigenous Uttam AESA radar. The ADA has asked the DRDO’s LRDE lab to keep the Uttam’s interfaces as similar as possible to the current syst
em. ‘It will be a challenge, moving from a mechanically scanned radar to the AESA without interface changes but that is the attempt, to save time and forestall any structural changes to the aircraft or radar,’ says Balaji. Interestingly, since the LCA doesn’t have an integrated liquid cooling system necessary for an AESA radar, the team has suggested that a small auxiliary compartment that becomes redundant after the mechanical-to-AESA switch could be utilised to house a liquid cooling system.
ok so uttam AESA redar is progressing too......................................................................

Aero India 2017: Rafael to offer Derby Mk III under 'Make in India' initiative

Israel's Rafael is offering to locally build its Derby Mk III beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) for India's Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), the company told Jane's on 14 February.
India's Tejas LCA platform has already successfully been configured with the baseline Derby missile as part of the aircraft's final operational clearance (FOC) phase in 2016.
The Derby Mk III is the Indian version of the I-Derby Extended Range (ER) missile unveiled at Aero India 2015, which features new capabilities over the original Derby, including a dual-pulse rocket motor, software-defined radio-frequency seeker, and maximum range of 100 km. The Derby Mk III and the short-range, infrared-guided Python 5 are currently under consideration and evaluation by Indian Air Force (IAF) to arm Tejas, according to Rafael.

What we need now is a powerful photonic radar small enough to be fitted in LCA, spectra like EW suit and kickass IRST sensor with 500km+ A to A missile. And then we may just not need any aircraft apart from LCA in our inventory. With photonics technology, a stealth aircraft will light up like a Christmas tree

KH-2013 (LSP-03) positions for the next maneuverer after take-off during the third day of Aero India 2017. Gp Capt Madhav Rangachari's aerial ballet with Tejas has entertained with a crisp and neat display profile. Wg Cdr S Joardar is the other display pilot for Aero India 2017.

this looks stunning, isn't it .Can Anybody tell what the changes are made, and world class finishing .

GOOD LUCK HAL...........
This is the LCA Navy Mk1 - this is just a TD!
The difference between this one and the Tejas Mk1 is bigger LEVCON, bigger/stronger landing gear, drooped nose, higher canopy etc.

(the plane in the background is the US Navy's Poseidon)
