I was perusing through this article from the Times of India and was shocked to read that "Development of Tejas MARK-II, with more powerful engines, scrapped". Is this true?
TOI rajat pandit is a liar chief of DDM, tejas mk1A has nothing to do with tejs mk2.

And the lie they r spreading is that tejas mk2 is only ment for navy, not suitable for airforce!!!

If we remove the extra weight landing gear of naval tejas mk2 and reduce the extra body stiffening of naval tejs mk2, it automatically becomes airforce tejas mk2,

With a navy man BALAJI at the helm,ADA tejas team is doing tejas mk2 for navy,

SO it is automatic that tejas mk2 airforce version will be culled out of it, whether our liar jourANALysts chiefs & three legged cheetah retired airchief like it or not!!!

Which air chief in 2025 will say no to a TWR 1.2 + 9 G fighter with better turn rates state of the art internal EW suit, IRST and all??

SO the lies that these guys are spreading like tejas mk2 is scrapped is a laughing joke,!!!

Reaching today !!

“The planes reached Jamnagar last week from Bengaluru and they are all set to fly out to Muscat today. It will be historic in many ways as Tejas will be cruising out of Indian skies for the first time,” an officer told OneIndia. In the last one week, in addition to various technical clearances, Tejas had to undergo a series of mandatory custom checks at the Jamnagar base. “It will have a stopover at Muscat before flying out to Sakhir Airbase in Bahrain. It is scheduled to reach Bahrain today itself,” the officer said.

Tejas may fire Derby, Python missiles in Jamnagar on return from Bahrain.

Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas is likely to test-fire Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM) Derby and Close Combat Missile (CCM) Python-5.

Sources confirmed to Mathrubhumi on Wednesday that the firing of Derby and Python missiles were originally planned during this week when two Tejas were halting at the Air Force Station Jamnagar.......

The DPP introduces a new category – Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured (IDDM). To qualify as an IDDM the product must have minimum 40% local components. Should the design not be Indian, 60% components will have to be locally sourced.

Guyz, any idea what's current % of local components.. It must be above 40% as we have engine + ASEA radar imported for now.

why is that almost all tejas have such crappy paint job that it keeps peeling off:crazy:
Actually these white patches are not paints, its duct tape. Generally these are attached during maintenance to keep safe joints and other sensitive areas. I think here too they were left alone for the same purpose.

i guess wings are the most exposed parts of a fighter jet with respect to drag and opposite G force and all that but its really very alarming to see idiots in HAL using duct tape to fix it dont they have anything better and even if they are using duct tape to fill the gaps means we might have a big issue with tejas with respect to its durability man the shit is getting serous what if a wing breakes off on tejas during flight ?

Actually all idiots in Aircraft maintenance does use duct tape for this purpose :biggrin2:. These protection is only for maintenance on ground and generally peeled off once the plane is ready for flight. But I think here they might have left it in flight too to protect some more important structural unit. These was not done by accident for sure.
