It will be a proud moment , whenever it is completed. Regardless of any date for completion , a separate production line is being established for Tejas by HAl and serial production is about to start.All design teams for mk-1 are wound up and work is only on mk-2 and AMCA as per some reports.LSP-7,8 is almost the production version to be handed over to IAF.

How did you determine"test flow !!!!! of tejas mk-2 will be very difficult?"



Will it take great many men to push it off the runway?

Tejas SP1 will be handed over to IAF this September coinciding with it getting IOC 2
But FOC will be obtained by mid 2015. Thus completing the project.
So may be the statement is for mk-1 only.

But the article is factually incorrect when it states that IAC-1 will join Indian Navy in 2015
This is not happening before 2017/2018.

LCA LSP 8 was to be "the" production version but due to some minor issue ( i don't remember what ) it is almost the production version.
LSP 8 should take to sky this month.

NLCA NP1 has 4 flights and data obtained has gone into redesigning.
As Indian Navy needs only 6 NLCA mk1 that too in training role so,

LCA mk2 and NLCA mk 2 will have concurrent development with GE 414 powering them.
Both will take to sky well within 2015.

I think the need for the LCA has been completely misunderstood here... We might purchase the Girpen but does that really give atleast the partial independence of assured delivery that a home production of LCA can afford us?? Wasnt that the entire motive behind the homegrown Jet fighter program? Our industry still has the golden screwdriver assembling mentality . The LCA allowed us atleast to get out of this ... YES mistakes have been made and challenges under estimated but wasn't that part of the learning process.

I think that now that the design is frozen the main chalenges before us will be

TO ensure quality of production and production Time does not destroy the credibility of the LCA program.
For this we do not need experts in auronautics or engineering. We NEED excelent managers especially those who have good experience in SCM - Supply Chain Management for large scale industries.
The design already provides the ROADMAP for the products and electronics that will be required to be built.We need people with good sourcing skills and good enough to manage large orders. There are many people with these skills in the private Industry today.

Now as for the Gripen the cost is so high that even the native airforce ranked the Rafale to be the better bet for the rate being charged.

Yeah, I agree Gripen is technologically superior to some extend but also inferior to Tejas in some catagory ..

west always thinks world evolv arround them... lol tejas mk1 is a better than mirage2000 , tejas mk2 will be mmrca. and more capable...not to forget abilities of tejas will be explored more in coming days.. it took 10 years for france rafale it took 13 years for ef.. india gonr thru sanctions .... which delayed all programs..but tejas evolved by years... specs wr updated . mk2 will have active array radar same size of rafale.. and its multi role...

Rafael has proved it self in Libya and MALI. Has Tejas proved anything?? in the end we have to go for GE engines. If there was sanction on India, what about Russia or France for engine??
