I believe 8 aircraft per annum is the current position of HAL.Gurus, any idea about whether HAL has set up a production line for the LCA, and what would be the yearly output if we presume the AF approves the LSP-8 as the final configuration...
The flight testing was halted in between due to the new helmet giving a sitting height to pilot which was above the canopy shattering prongs of the ejection seat. The new helmet with sights raises above those prongs. On 11th Oct 1988 I had ejected thru the canopy of Kiran off Goa over sea and even with a normal helmet, my head had hit the canopy during ejection. But it happenned in such a quick time that my neck did not feel the impact and my spine took all the load.LCA-Tejas has completed 1964 Test Flights Successfully. (02-Jan-2013).

The testing speed has reduced significantly. If they continue like this I doubt LCA can be inducted before the end of this year.
They can very easily ramp it up to about one sqn of 18 ac each year or maybe more. A very large part of LCA is built from composites and in parts.I believe 8 aircraft per annum is the current position of HAL.
The helmet issue was resolved in November end. I was talking about the current rate of flights, 1 flight in 12 days. The rate throughout december was also slow. The average rate of flights in july was greater than one flight per day.The flight testing was halted in between due to the new helmet giving a sitting height to pilot which was above the canopy shattering prongs of the ejection seat. What happened to the LSP-6?LCA-Tejas has completed 1971 Test Flights Successfully. (08-Jan-2013).

Nobody sends a light combat aircraft with limited payload and range to do SEAD missions. That is suicidal. You wont see many targets worth hitting close to the border. No idea where you get low RCS from either. It is a 3/4 gen fighter. Just because it is light dosnt means the RCS is better than other comparable fighters.IMHO it would be better to use the LCA as a interceptor platform as well as CAS in support of our offensive IBGs. Their relatively low RCS comnined with the Elta Jammer pods should provide them with the ability to fly short distance into hostile air space where the SU with its massive RCS might be too expensive to be lost to ground fire, and the Jaguar not being nimble enough to scoot after a payload delivery
it is not a light combat aircraft anymore. In mk-2 version it can be as close to GRIPPEN NG version which took part in the MRCA competition. No idesa where you get the 3/4 th gen fighter. All targets in PAK are within the hitting area ofTEJAS(MRCA not LCA in mk-2 version according to air force chief P.V.naik's comment, not mine.)Nobody sends a light combat aircraft with limited payload and range to do SEAD missions.
