the runway doesnot look flat.is this for a reason?or they testing it on runway that simulates a career? or is this just a different view from the camera?
Please post details.
if this is true then all the talk of bad low altitude handling oof lca is history now.Surely not many aircrft that have bad low speed handling can be considered for carrier landing.
that means cranked delta with levcons does the job for naval lca perfectly. With the powerful engine from mk-2,it will be even more better for naval lca

Kolkata varsity in DRDO collab - Times Of India

He claims that DRDO took only 15 years in developing a fourth-generation aircraft like the Tejas from scratch while the Eurofighter has not yet been fully developed, even after 22 years. According to him, this is a normal life-cycle development period. "Now that Tejas has gone into production, we are already discussing an Advanced Middle Combat Aircraft (AMCA). We have worked with minimum resources. I have been to a submarine development unit in Russia where 20,000 scientists work. Our budget is also merely 3 Rs 10,000 crore of which nearly half is spent on salaries and top-secret projects. Under the circumstances, there is little investment in R&D. These are aspects that need to be looked into as foreign arms suppliers are not keen that India develops indigenous capabilities," he said.
some more interesting info on timeline of tejas compaed to Eurofighter developments and miniscule budget for tejas.
And How ADA hopes to change that with colabaration from IITs for AMCA.

This picture illustrates quiet clearly the relatively small size of that aircraft. It could be an excellent LIFT...
Yes it has the least wing loading among all the 4th gen fighters, meaning it provides most lift per kg of weight.
And because of this huge wing area it also has more drag, resulting in lower sustained turn rate and high instantaneous turn rate.
however by using weight saving composite materials and higher powered GE-414, engine this drag issue is proposed to be resolved,.since it has alredy demonstrated 1.2 mach at sea level in a dive,it's airframe is capable of doing topspeeds all high wingloading fighters can do,but it needs a higher powered engine .
But it will be at it's best in high altitude performance, which is demanded by it's role as interceptor in point defence role .
it also has less than a third of mirage RCS,and also one of the lowest RCS design among 4th gens,in clean configuration.
SO if it flies in low level in a way , with no external stores are painted by enemy radar, it cannot be detected by airborne radar beyond 120 km,well below the range of today's long range BVRs it can carry.

SO it is theoritically possible for it to fire a long range BVR on any enemy fighter before it being detected. Also this point needs more debate and

Yeah. As a LIFT it is a first class aircraft. I recommended the same for the American LIFT requirement in another thread. I can't find it though.

The Koreans have already offered the T-50 for the American LIFT requirement.

I don't know whether IAF will choose LCA as a LIFT though. But the progression to PAKFA and AMCA will be much easier for our pilots.
