There is no point in getting involved in petty squabbles with a person like you. ^^ In India, the concept of "sanctity" and "sacred" is more common than in the West. We sanctify things like the flag, etc. That is just our culture - the way we are. The symbolism of the flag as "sacred" is something that many (or most) Indians feel strongly about.

Instead of beating her up, they should have sat down in front of her house with placards, and protested, and refused to move unless she was arrested. That way, the protesters would have been on the correct side of the law. Peaceful protest is the way to go.
