NASHIK: Four persons were sentenced to 7-year rigorous imprisonment by a local court for looting passengers and raping a woman on a train in 2005.

Additional district and sessions judge R S Bhandurge handed over the sentence on Thursday and fined all the four accused Rs 10,000 each.

Accused Pramod Bhaurao Jadhav had raped a married woman on knife point in the Mumbai-bound Pawan Express on December 6, 2005 while his brother Prakash Bhaurao Jadhav, Vikas Chandrakant Unhavane and Vishal Ramdas Gaikwad looted valuables from other passengers.

All the four had boarded the train from Nashik Road railway station.

After the incident, Pramod was overpowered by travellers and handed over to Kalyan police while the three other accused were later arrested.
