On June 23, 1985, a bomb exploded on Air India Flight 182, killing all 331 people on board, including 280 Canadians. Thirty-five years later, we Indo-Canadians are remembering the victims of the country's worst terrorist attack. This tragedy has never got the recognition in Canada it deserves because most of the victims were not considered Canadians. Not our problem was the attitude of Canadian governments for some years although of the 329 people killed,268 were Canadian citizens including 86 children and 6 infants. The one country that we will always remember and be grateful to is Ireland. The Irish were incredible. They went above and beyond the call of duty. Our debt to them could never be repaid. We will also remember the help of the Indian Ambassador to Ireland and his wife.Very conspicuously absent were the Canadian officials.
