19 Ayurvedic Herbs Collection Centers have been approved/suggested across the country during 2016-17 and 2017-18

Under ‘Medicinal Plants’ component of Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM), the Ministry of AYUSH is supporting various activities relating to cultivation, establishment of nurseries, Post-Harvest Management, IEC activities and marketing of medicinal plants/herbs throughout the country including hilly areas. Under ‘Medicinal Plants’ component of NAM Scheme there is also a provision to establish Herbs Collection Centres at the Village/District/State level.

The State-wise detail of Herbs Collection Centres approved/suggested under ‘Medicinal Plants’ component of Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission during 2016-17 and 2017-18 at District and Rural Level.

Patents have been filed for 5 new AYUSH drugs developed by the Central Research Councils of M/o AYUSH: Shri Shripad Naik

Four among the Central Research Councils functioning under the Ministry of AYUSH, namely Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) and Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) are involved in research activities, including development of new drugs.



The Research Councils under Ministry of AYUSH are actively involved in the scientific process of drug development adopting prevalent guidelines. The process involves standardization of raw drug followed by drug proving, clinical verification and clinical trial. The entire process takes considerable time in completion.
