So basically anything that is currently active including the P&W engine for F-35 is useless for AMCA. Hard to imagine what it would have required had AMCA been an AHCA.
EVEN MKI HAVE 240-250 KN THRUST

so, yes the power req. for the heavy will be even more.

the su57's planned izdeliye 30 (item-30) engine will have thrust of 180kN, as there are 2 of these in it so total of 360kn of thrust.

14 New High Thrust Engine will be used as TD for AMCA Program – Indian Defence Research Wing
DRDO’s GTRE is planning to conclude a deal with either Safran or Rolls-Royce for the development of a new 110kN Class thrust engine that can be used to power India’s AMCA MkII jets that goes into production in 2035 by mid of this year that will be directly under the preview of the PM’s Office and will be taken as a national project for which clearance of the project will likely take place soon.

idrw.org has been told that nearly 8 new engines will be manufactured after inking the deal within three years from the date of agreement that will be used as ground technology demonstrator engines to be used to test the engine in various configurations with or without afterburner section initially after which the project moves to fabrication of 6 more flying technology demonstrator engine that will be used on the Flying Test Bed aircraft prepared for the program.

If IDRW is to be believed...

They don't know yet who the foreign consultant will be, but the project outline is set. & only 3 years for the first 8 engines! Are we that close or is it too ambitious?? It hints that all the v0 parts are already available with DRDO/consultant.

7 years (2029-30) to finish the program and 9 years for first serially produced engines (2031-32)- isn't that late? If AMCA Mk2 has to roll out by 2035 only 3-4 years of engine availability whereas for the simpler Mk2 GE specialists will be down by mid year to help with the integration and the plane will be ready by 2026-7, which means 4-5 years of overlap.

The report also mentions a flying test bed will be prepared for the program which will put 6 such engines through their paces.

As per saurav Jha ,it will take atleast 6 years for a flight worthy prototype to be ready and idrw guys is claiming that 8 prototypes will be ready within just 3 years. Please ask him what maal he is smoking.

This article mentions 7, but that (+2 years for production) is cutting it too fine for AMCA Mk2 2035 deadline. Unless 2035 is when it rolls out, not start of serial production.

SJ on the 110kN engine:
  • It will be done as part of an SPV just like the AMCA
  • Partner has not been selected for either 110kN engine or AMCA yet
  • HAL & DRDO will be involved in both of these programs, but private (AMCA) and foreign (engine) partners are yet to be selected
  • The timeline for first flights with the jet engine prototypes "according to DRDO" is 7 years! If the announcement is made at 10-13 March defexpo '22 (as per the Raksha Mantri's announcement) then first flight by 2029!

I am not sure of why we keep rehashing engine threads over and over when actually no forward movement has taken place since 2011-12 when Kaveri went for testing in Russia on a test bed.

Since that it's all speculation. We have taken some efforts to develop some engine parts locally, but other than that, even the next gen of Kaveri, hasn't gone real testing.

After that it's mostly speculation, on Snecma help, JV with RR , Indo US JV fell through and GoI is finding it tough to fund billions of dollars for an engine which might be out of sync with requirements when it finally arrives. Till the time, GoI decides with a collaborator and set aside funds for it, it's quite useless bandwidth to discuss about engines.

AMCA's engine drawing on the FCAS' 6th gen engine?

Two fighters, one engine
The engine developed for the AMCA will likely have much in common with the future propulsion plant of the European sixth-generation FCAS fighter, for which SAFRAN is the tri-national (Spain, France and Germany) project leader of that development pillar.

The signing of the contract could mean that India would finance part of the engine project for the future FCAS, lowering the costs of the program for the Europeans partners, or at least for the French side.

If it is indeed based on proposed engine for FCAS....then I doubt the transfer of full "Know-why" of the engine...it's just looking like another FGFA ficaso
They have gone through the whole topi drama by involving RR for full IPR to better the Safran proposal in turn. I'm sure they will negotiate the engine deal of the century so far as India is concerned and it will be a good one. There's a lot riding on this from transports to fighters to helicopters to UCAVs.. everything else that needs powered flight including also marine turbines.

According to Trishul blog, 110kn is very less for supercruise, so now 125kn is on cards. IMO his answers to some questions somehow confirms the development of this engine.

F-35 (24.2 T in stealth mode ) with dry thrust of 128KN can supercruise ,but AMCA (20T in stealth mode) with total dry thrust of 150KN can't supercruise ??.....What the hell is smoking ??
