Eleven personnel of the CRPF died and seven were injured in encounter with Maoists
New Delhi: Eleven personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force died and six were injured in an encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Sukma. The injured have been air-lifted for treatment.
Sources in the home ministry said two of the bodies have been recovered.
The shootout took place near Kala Pathar near Chintagufa around 1 pm today.
The men belonged to the 74 battalion and initial reports said they were providing protection to a group of construction workers building a road in the area.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has called an emergency meeting following the attack.
