Yes, thousands of times. In fact, China had originally planned 003 to use steam but switched in 2019 to EM because the tests had gone so well. China used an entirely different EM catapult based on DC than the US one which is based on AC.

Tests were done on both steam and EM catapults for many years. It wore out multiple J-15Ts.
