I don't understand the obsession with meteor... SFDR is already in testing and will be in production couple of years. It is going to have same if not more range compare to Meteor.

They can't afford F-16 and JF-17 too... How do you think they got them?

J-10 is very capable, so much that when offered to Porks they denied it by saying it doesn't really offers much over JF-17. WS-10 can still fly in observation.

Not to forget there will be at-least 300kg additional load which is not weapons. So actual weapon load at full fuel is only 4800 kg.

Single engine is easy to maintain... less turn around time and more of a workhorse.

I wasn't talking about engines weight but the twin engine configuration fighter of same size. But that's not always true.

Twin engine fighters does have higher operating cost compared to single engine one. Also it should be normally higher weight.

Tejas MK2/ MWF are same. (Single engine) NLCA is just tech demonstrator Naval Tejas MK2 is cancelled for TEDBF(Will be completely new design or maybe a non stealth version of AMCA will know by 2021) AMCA is a 5th gen program I have no idea from where this twin engine ORCA came from.

There is only 300 kg weight difference in what I am calculating and what you are. I am saying 7200 Kg you are saying 7500. And regarding Mig-21... I didn't knew it had carbon composite structure.

I have calculated 500 Kg of additional weight. Also 6.6 tons currently is being called overweight, they will try to implement weight reduction measures in Mk2. But anyway all we can do is calculations till 2023 if not more :scared2:

Can't stop myself from doing stupid calculations... So hear they are... Max. take Off Weight =17.5 tons Weapon Load = 6.5 tons So Loaded Weight = 11 tons Internal Fuel = 3.3 tons So empty weight = 11000 Kg - 3300 kg - 500 Kg (Additional Load) = 7200 KG (7.2 tons) Fuel fraction = 30% Wing will...

Does that mean they are looking for a 70 KN dry thrust engine???
  17. tsunami

    ADA Tejas Mark-II/Medium Weight Fighter

It's dry thrust is just 54 Kn. Can it really go 14 tons max take off weight. Tejas with the same thrust said to be just 13.5 tons.

I don't understand much so just asking, even if engine is smaller still the air intakes can not be blocked. So in my opinion smaller engine will just increase air intake length, which can not be used for fuel and avionics.

I am not sure but loaded weight is excluding external weapons. Including pilot and etc.
