There's more Cum by Spokesperson Navy than an OF account at this rate. And I say this unironically. Jokes apart, did they even receive a memo about what it actually means and the mini-PR disaster that follows with it?

News to me. Sure he didn't confuse space reserved for VLS as being implied as carrying a VLS? Or did one of the class members go into refit recently?

Should add, I totally forgot we have Anvesh just for this purpose. So yeah, I guess we can do the above on her instead.

Could be somewhat controversial from a Force Posture pov but we could risk having a single Kolkata class go into a refit to see how many UVLS could be fitted without compromising on hull strength and seaworthiness. I suppose some ballasting and reinforcing would be needed though due to the...

Doesn't hurt having an actual universal VLS though. And we have the necessary expertise to achieve the same, just needs time, money and a dollop of patience. I suspect this topic won't even be discussed a decade from now.

We've been down this road before, until and unless we're made aware or know what's down there below the deck in the adjacent spaces surrounding both the RBU-6000 magazine and VLS structure, any discussion of a refit of more VLS cells is moot. And there is also the need from a logistics point of...

Certain modules of the LRLACM are being produced, so I'm guessing development trials of AUR's in 2024, followed by trials from the UVLM in 2025 or 2026-ish? Then a period of user trials and EIS in 2027-28. Could be optimistic.

I wonder how the Chinese' GJB5860-2006 VLS manages it. Supports both Cold and Hot launches.

It is a comparison regardless at the end of the day, and in my book, the P-15 family (A/B) is still quite ahead due to the mere fact that it came into fruition as a concept and sees service while the CGN-42 never saw the light of the day.

Modify it then, better to do it now than crib later down the line saying no VLS.

Yes, but how many of those missiles can even intercept a sea skimmer or a hypersonic threat? Do keep in mind that this is a design from the early 70's when the threat from such missiles was only just emerging. Pretty sure a Barak-8 has a higher Pk against the assumed target set compared to an...

Like ITCM in place of the usual BrahMos. Instead of 16 Brahmos, you could carry 8 Brahmos and 8 ITCM if the UVLM can accept the latter and if it does get integrated.

Existing UVLM for Brahmos, we have 16 of them, depending on the mission set, the missile loaded will be different.

The only thing that stands out there is Nuclear. Otherwise, CGN-42 was going to sport dual-arm Mk.26 launchers (as in early Tico's) and older missiles.

Yes, it's called P-15A/B, the only difference I see here is the somewhat lower magazine capacity in terms of VLS. and conventional (COGAG) propulsion. And as for those claiming "Muh! No Tomahawks!" we have the BrahMos already and the ITCM will be coming online soon.

@Blademaster crews on any ship are given designated roles to perform depending on rank, qualification and training. You are confusing those performing the role of Watch Officers under an OOD (Officer of the Deck), himself under the supervision of a CDO(Command Duty Officer, usually always the...
