One shudders to think of the long term Intel damage the west did to Russia because the doors of the Kremlin were thrown open to Americans. The relationships established back then are probably providing info to the west even today.
Interesting trivia: Russians tried marketing the SU-27 to the British (!) soon after the fall of the wall. British test pilots were even allowed front seat rides.
