    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

When will the 124 Arjin MK1A (that was ordered in 2021) be fully delivered?

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

Internal configuration is most likely very similar to Leopard 2, with a slightly re-designed turret. The turret seems to be a further iteration of that found in the proposed Rhinemetal Challenger 2 upgrade, with a slight flavour of their Lynx KF-41 turret.

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

Depends on what you consider as sufficient evidence. Has any defence journalist confirmed Arjun MK2 till now based on their "sources" : Yes. Till now Prasun sengupta confirmed in his Trishul blog. Saurav jha have confirmed (as recently as his February Youtube IAH). Shiv Aroor confirmed that...

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

Yes, you can say that. Crew survivability is highest in such arrangement. But the turret is thinly protected in Armata style arrangements. Any high end AFSPDS round can knock the whole turret off, resulting in a mission kill. In the very least, the turret should be protected by Merkava type...

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

Are bhai you have all seen the design. Nothing new. Original proposal by DRDO (Leclerc style arrangement): New proposal (Armata style):

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

I don't think that is the GNMBT project. Arjun MK2 will be based on re-designed hull and turret of Arjun MK1 platform. Personally speaking I expect it to follow Leo-2A4 to A7 type trajectory. This project was born out of a discussion by DGMF, MOD and DRDO offcials in 2016-17, when it was...

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

Till now about 242 Arjuns (MK1 and MK1A) have been ordered. The DRDO guys want the number to be about 500-600 to recover the ammoritized cost that have been already invested in the programme and to set-up a viable supply chain involving private sector companies by indegenizing most of the...

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

I think it is old T-72CIA's, whose turret have received the DRDO ERA Mk2 (which looks like Kontack-5)

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

If properly modified over the base Arjun MK1/MK1A design, the Arjun mk2 can become our own equivalent of Lepard 2A7. In terms of electronics, and new power plant (Bharat Power pack), the Arjun mk2 can become quite competitive in global scale.

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

Arjun ordered till now is only 242 no.. No firm commitments on any future Arjun MK2 order from the Army. IMHO, we should abandon the 120 mm gun altogether, and settle on 125 mm gun. Based on this, we can have a modular/scalable 2 man crew turret, with bustle mounted autoloader. The heavier...

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

IA wants tanks in all spectrum: Light, medium and heavy. Among them, medium tanks was to be in maximum numbers. But these requirements were firmed up considering only Pakistani armour formation which consists of few T-80s and Al-khalids/VT-4s and maximum number of old Type 59 junks. However...

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

There is absolutely no need for 2 category of medium tanks. The T-72 like must be relaced 1:1 by Arjun and its future versions. The T-72 hulls can be re-purposed for robotic tanks, Terminator type AFVs, and carriers for MBRLS, SAM's, BLTs etc. T-90S needs to be modernized and progressively...

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

As per Trishul guy, IA is not planning any APS for T-90 and T-72 upgrade. Then why is there a Make project from Army design bureau for 3000 APS systems?

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

A good option would be to revive the Tank EX programme. Replace the turret on the T-series tank with the modified turret which DRDO is planning for Arjun MK2. Many of the components required are developed under the Arjun MK1A programme already. Rest including improved ammo, nuw smoothbore gun...

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

The current upgrade programme is too piecemeal IMHO. There is a proposal for ERA upgrade, another proposal for APS, another one for improved ammo etc. mostly from DRDO/OFB side. I feel we should go for a comprehensive upgrade by signing a deal with Russians/Ukrainians/Israelis (whoever quotes...

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

Don't get your hopes high about recent news about upgradation of our T-90S to T-90MS offer from Russia. We have been hearing such news for more than a decade.

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

Then Why is 3500 no. armour protections required for 15-20 years? As per FRCV RFI, 1770 FRCV tanks are to be procured to be inducted in service beginning from 2030 and to remain in service for 40 years till 2070. Hence, I think this is some form of modular passive armour protection package...

    Indian Army T- 90 (Bhishma) and T- 72 (M-1) Tanks

In one of the Technology developement reports, IA stated that it wants: The Broad specifications required is > 1000 mm RhAe. The number required is around 3500. Now the question arises, is this meant to be some sort of modular armour upgrade that IA wants to retrofit the existing stock of...
