INS Vishal (IAC- II) Aircraft Carrier - Flattop or Ski Jump

I never said Chinese soldiers made inroads into tribal areas..their ideology made inroads. Naxalbari, N. Bengal came into Maoist influence and gave birth to CPI ( Maoist-Leninist). It was just a replica of violent peasant movement of China albeit on a smaller scale....spread quickly to rest of...

You are conjecturing a possible 3rd world war. In such a scenario, an axis may form with countries like Russia, China, North Korea, Cuba, Chile, Iraq, Iran, Columbia etc. What is more even nuclearised Pak may side with China. For a brief period after the end of cold-war, the world was uni-polar...

I don't have to even react :hehe: Sikkim was never claimed by China. Even when Sikkimese Assembly chose to be a part of Indian Federation of States, China was OK with it. In 1962, China defeated us comprehensively; She not only occupied entire Arunachal, but quickly made inroads into North...

It is not exactly that. Manmohan Singh's thinking was if you have a nuclear deterrent in place, you don't need to splurge on mundane military machine and can afford to divert funds for social-welfare schemes and poverty alleviation. It is a socialist pattern of thinking. I don't know if it is...

Your thinking is influenced by medieval mindset. China has territorial dispute with a number of countries. All lesser military powers than India. Has she invaded and occupied their territories? In modern day geo-politics, "(military) might is right" doesn't work. Trade, commerce, industry...

Sanghis, in their ardour to instill hindu-pride in country-men, have lost mental equilibrium. They have started imagining India to be a Superpower in the making and in the same league as China. India will go bust if she enters into arms race with China. We should be happy to keep upper-hand...

Are you referring to AUM? US tried it in 50s without much success. Aircrafts can hope to hit Sub only when they surface above. Subs can be hit only with torpedo/ depth charge from ships. Of course 2 Subs can engage in dog-fight.

So you have no faith in international Admirality Law? Now what if big bullies like US, China decide to go by the law of jungle and put up a blockade in IOR? With their petro-dollars, Arab countries can acquire 10 times bigger Navy than India's. Russians & Europeans will fall over each other to...

Your post has more sentimental appeal than logic & pragmatism; by the same token Saudi Arab may say Arabian Sea is named after it and she has exclusive right of policing it upto Mumbai harbour:rofl: Jurisdiction of a country extends to 12 nautical miles from shore and upto 200 nauts for...

What you are talking about? INS Vikrant doing a naval blockade during B'desh liberation war was just locker-room brag. In fact it was a liability with a malfunctioning boiler, but Pakis didn't know it. And what was it blockading? Just 4 rudimentary gun-boats of Pak's Eastern Naval Command !!

Everything needs to be seen & judged in right perspctive. If an AC hit by a cruise missile sinks, we lose crores of rupees worth of military assets, not to speak of human lives which can not be made good in a decade. If a missile hits an island in A&N the damage is not that serious. Besides...

I remember a spat on twitter between a Paki & a Sanghi on tactical missile power when the Sanghi closed the argument stating India has 70 crore males each having a tactical missile dangling in between legs..enough to blast every Paki hole many times over.

The 80 MW pwr reactor of Arihant is too puny for 65000 ton AC. It needs at least 600 MW to meet propulsion and other house-keeping needs. Power intensive EMALs in addition, need a dedicated power plant.

I squarely blame it on the overtures of that known US stooge, Manmohan Singh. In the process we alienated our trusted ally Russia. 10 years of MMS era will only be remembered for corruption and bungling. When the world is racing ahead in Science and engineering, we are still struggling to master...

I am not clear about US's stance on transfer of military-nuclear technology to India in the wake of signing of civil-nuclear deal. The deal permits transfer of dual-use (civil-military) reactor technology. Can someone tell under what circumstances the deal goes void apart from India reneging on...

Ashok Parthasarthi, a former science and technology adviser to the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, sums up the extent of Russian assistance: “India's first indigenous nuclear submarine, INS Arihant...would have just been impossible to realise without Russia’s massive all-round consultancy...

I think the civil nuclear cooperation agreement between the two came in the way. As regards the submarine reactor, it is an open secret that Russian engineers fixed many problems which were beyond the BARC/ DRDO people. Again it will be an enormous challenge for indians if they want to go it alone.
