VBSS with a battle rifle?

A DM and a guy with a scope are two different things. A DMR' will have a heavier barrell. A scope on a battle rifle allows you to simply engage at the outside ranges of the rifle/bullet. That's not what a DMs role is

If th rifle barrel is the same then it's not 'used as a DMR'. It is still only a battle rifle with a scope.

Almost every soldier, RR or otherwise, in Kashmir has some type of optic on their long gun today. Why would normal infantry not require one on the IB ? Alot of countries use optics in all kinds of enviornment. It's a question of getting the right kit for troops in the right theater.

SO utterly confused. the AK was supposed to go to COIN troops and SIG to Line Infantry. Or i am missing something here?
