That's not how small arms work. They don't 'counter' each other.

No Idea. 94K will go to SF/Ghatak/Officer Cadre on front line units. IMO Locally made 556 Carbines (OFB/SSW etc) will equip the rest. I dont see why Tank Crews, Helicopter Crews cannot get the X-95 (Locally called Zitarra if made by OFB) as PDWs.

No such thing as Best. Better sure. Also the Sig and the Caracal are improvements over the 416. Read up on the history. Both the 716 and 816 were designed and developed by the same 2 engineers who designed the 416/7.

I am not so sure the CAR816 deal is going through. Which would be a crying shame. the CAR and SIGS with shorter barrel lenghts should also become the standard rifles of out SOF units. The TAVORS should be given to MOUT and Tank/Helicopter Crews.

Hmm 1. The G36 replacement is a political decision not a military need one. Most German units surveyed were perfectly happy with the G36 (source SOFrep). The need to change out the gun is about infusing money into the economy and throwing HK a lifeline 2. M4 - after anumber of trials the M4...

Welcome to DFI Unfortunately I don't think pictures of the trials are available . India as a rule doesn't release such info to public with respect to tender and trialing process. If they do it's extremely rare and will usually center around domestic equipment. Edit - guess I was wrong lol. See...

If you read Gen Rawat's recent interview on Force Restructuring then you will notice that for Ground Troops / Personel a tier based system will be adopted. 1. Infantry will get the "best weapons" where ARs/ RCL etc - so all foriegn tenders will go here 2. Rear Echelon troops / Engineering corp...

Talk about missing the Tress for the Forest. I started participating here with two hypotheses 1. The Bullpup is unfit for line infantry citing examples of others 2. There is no such thing as "conventional warfare" any more. IA has to be ready to fight whatever is in front of it. Today and...

Fair First lets define the term limits of The definition of the Conventionality of War needs. Second the argument for Conventional Arms in our discussion was restricted to Infantry not other arms. Every Military Service needs to arm itself for its own purpose and contigency. The Navy also...

Sirji - Alot people on this forum were pro Tavor. I am not talking about the Tavor I was engaging in a debate between Bullpup Vs Conventional Rifles considering 2 of the "shortlist" are Bullpups. But as far as bullpups go I WOULD prefer the Tavor - Level of operational refinement is superior to...
