    ADA Tejas Mark-II/Medium Weight Fighter

Until HAL laid it's hand on Tejas, HAL didn't knew the art of building aircrafts from scratch . HAL inspite of all TOT for 70 years never learnt it. Sometimes lessons are learnt in hard way. And MWF will be inducted by 6-7 years which should be perfectly fine.

I would have also fumed at delays of HAL. But this delay is for good reason. HAL has started acting like a true integrator in recent days by outsourcing lot of aero structures to private companies thereby creating true eco system for aerospace in India.odfcourse this change causes delay...

There is nothing to worry here. Even if we go by article 1) The drawings for FOC plane has been already transferred to HAL which in itself is great news. This would mean that ADA has completed all hardware related changes and expecting only software related changes for completion. 2) A delay...

It will have to retested as lot of issues identified have been fixed. Here lies the problem.Boeing as part of offset was suppose to create a flying test bed from 2011 itself. It dragged it till 2017 and then now for unknown reasons Mod and DRDO is dragging after Boeing said it was ready.

Common sense is to understand the context than just knit picking on words. READY does not mean serial production. Safran also used word ready but with context called Flight worthy for limited envelope.

But there was no conviction there. The usage of word probably means he is not sure of it. However I hope I am proved wrong.

But I hardly see any space left for full fitment of obogs. So it could be just welded without obogs inside it even though place holder is maintained

For any jet fighter engine, radar and fly control software and weapon system are the most important ones. Now that we are almost getting Kaveri engine readied hopefully we see mk2 with Kaveri engine , uttam radar ready with Astra mk1 , mk2 and sfdr missile weapons in its kitty. That will be one...

Khagesh, My personal belief is,100 kms range is very high for air to air missile to achieve a kill unless aircraft is absolutly un-aware about the missile.Secondly, In future we could see the role of data link where the radar data comes from UAV's and stationary radars which have both higher...

AIM-9 Sidewinder is a short-range air-to-air missile with just 35 km range. Astra has edge over it for sure.

btw astra 1 itself can reach 110 kms if fired from 15 km altitude at 0.9 mach aircraft speed.44km at 5km altitude and 21 km at ground level.
