    Project-75I class SSK Submarines

It is good that scorpene is redesigned to remove hardwiring for black shark. It is a folly to buy such design in the first place when local torpedoes of similar category are being developed.

Parade of [edited] is full on in this thread. The [edited] abingdonboy forgets that investigation is being driven by Italian agencies and sentences have been handed out already. He wants us to believe there is no wrongdoing. The fear is more blowups in Italy and France deals. Everybody knows...

I think soryu class has a submerged speed of 20 knots. Though not sure if this speed is at periscope depth. Commercial power modules for 400KW are available using phosphoric acid fuel cells. It does seem that AIP tech is better than batteries at least superficially.

Kilo is still an excellent coastal sub. It is enough for patrolling in EEZ. More Kilos will free Scorpene for longer legged ops. I think nothing wrong in acquiring Kilo 636 class subs to replace existing Kilo 877EKM.

P75i project has not progressed beyond RFI. I think Scorpene consumed too much attention and funds of Navy. Navy itself may not be having clarity on how to proceed with this project. Navy wants three carriers. Logically it needs 6 SSN to protect these carriers. If SSN are not around, you will...

    Project-75I class SSK Submarines

I think P75i will eventually turn out to be a slightly smaller Arihant, with VLS for cruise missiles and AIP technology for greater underwater endurance. The concept is similar to Japanese Soryu class.

    Project-75I class SSK Submarines

I do not think so. Scorpene is a small boat. It has limited purpose. P75i will be a local project. It may not have much French technology at all.

The Arihant class is shaping well. If we can build ssbn, we can definitely build ssk. I think it is time to trust our own industry.

@Zebra, the gov may exercise options in scorpene but may not go beyond. The decision to build more will be taken after successful trial of first ship.

@Immanuel, we do not want scorpene. The stabilization of scorpene line is false. It is another assembly operation using imported components. Such a stability is equal to long term dependence.

The future is indigenous submarines - both diesel and nuclear propelled. It has to be to launch locally made missiles.

I think arihant class has given enough confidence to L&T to build diesel boats as well. My guess is P75i will go to L&T and Pipapav may end up building Kilo class. There could be 3 more scorpene, built at Mazgaon Docks.

    Project-75I class SSK Submarines

We want an Indian design diesel sub. There is enough confidence now to be able to build own subs. No need to pay royalty on scoepene indefinitely.

The government will keep an eye on all projects and look for efficiency in cost and time. Even sanctioned projects will be evaluated regularly and opportunity to save money will be explored. I know some people are unhappy. Let it be.

The 42 squadrons is not some magic figure. I feel this number should be around 60. However it is not possible today as money is limited and production has to pick up. The biggest hope still is LCA Tejas, if numbers have to increase significantly. This fighter in the cost range of 25-30M and...

    Project-75I class SSK Submarines

How is IAF in rapid decline. By your logic a Su-30 is equal to Mig-21. It is not so. The fighter strength is not purely number of fighters, but includes quality of fighters. For example, let us take France, an economy almost of India's size. As we are talking about IAF's wish of inducting...
