That may be effective in case of pakistan but on china front we will be toast if we can't do air offensive inside enemy territory....this isnt a viable soln ..given the situation iaf should order 2-3 more mk1a sqd and be done with that category of jet...

And will that make it in the same league as a rafale,mirage,mig29?....mk1a has its merits and demerits but it wont solve all of iaf's problem ..we need a medium jet in large numbers asap

That simply isnt true mk1a loiter time ,payload,ew etc cant never be close to a medium or heavy ...which is why they started development of mk2 in the first place.mk1a is a good mig21 replacement nothing more than that

This is something i agree but disagree with the no imo we shouldn't order more than 2-3 sqdrn of mk1a..resources are limited and we shouldn't over invest in a platform with limited capability but we could look at ordering cats mothership varient

80 mk1a is not equal to 36 rafale/mrca both are of different categories for different roles ...im for more mk1a but its foolish to think ordering more mk1a will be the panacea for all of IAF's problem...

Range, payload,electronics is an issue which is why both IAF and ada/hal went for a bigger mk2....

It doesn't make sense to order 200+ mk1a they have limited range and payload. Imo we should order some 2-3 sqd more and be done with the type mk2 is the real beast we should be ordering in huge numbers
