I dont take this setiously, but, Pratt & Whitney is better than GE in engines. https://idrw.org/f-15ex-offer-to-india-brings-pratt-whitney-engines-to-focus-in-india/ Their designs are more dynamic. Worth a read, i guess

Here is what I gather affects Kaveri. 1) Materials which dont survive at Higher temperatures. 2) Lack of Metallurgy to create Materials aka super-alloys to survive these temperatures. AFAIK, Pratt and Whitney sources these alloys from a 3rd party company called AMRDL. This one is a Great...

It is not a case of increasing numbers. These centigrade degree increase are not linear in terms of difficult. They are like a Richter Scale. Every 1 increase in Richter is a exponential increase in damage. Also, inside the Kaveri it does not have to be such a High temperature. Point is...

Noob query . Will HAL work with an Indian private player in engine manufacturing?

Nickel density is 8.908 g/cm³ Titanium density is 4.506 g/cm³ So, weight is no a problem. We can actually get more thrust due to lower weight requirements. Maybe, Titanium is costly. 2.5k for a Kg while Nickel 800 Rs/kg. But, for National strategic purposes we should be o with Higher...

Dont the Russians use Titanium in their engines? If Yes, why dont Indians use the same. The Biggest problem India has is the single crystal blade reliability at Higher temperatures. maybe a new material could help.

So Two things are happening. a) UK talking of a G2G (Government 2 Government) defense deal for development of jet engine, with , Rolls-Royce being primary Partner. b) https://www.cnbc.com/2020/02/15/trump-administration-may-stop-exporting-ges-engines-to-china-wsj.html . Trump administration...

Update from Amit_Updates channel -: a) Kaveri rumble issue resolved b) Screech issue is fixed c) Wet thrust is functioning at 81KN. Major Issue -: Kaveri engine not able to sustain Wet thrust for longer duration. Guys, can anyone provide comparitive data for wet thrust duration? It cant be...

If you some documentation. Kindly share. My info suggests otherwise. I agree.. But, here, Rolls Royce is looking at money for development cost. It is not same as selling crown jewels. It is more of collaborating to create new crown Jewels. If they dont agree on Joint collaboration with Full...

    Kaveri Engine

This might not be bad, since, Rolls-Royce competed for the F135 engine in the past in partnership with GE. That was a massive 40k lbf aka 177KN single engine thrust. But, we have to see, how they partner.

    Kaveri Engine

In 20 years..Old airforce honchos will be irrelevant in the engine program. We will have unmanned vehicles which will either be fully autonomous, or, Be run from a remote room by Geeks who control it's flight plan. So, all the people who are dishing Kaveri..ou can find your own room...

Because we dont know what they mean by engine technology transfer. A blackbox core is not engine technology. spending a billion for that does not make sense. We can build a twin aircraft with existing Kaveri of 130KN. That is more than enough for MWF. Old airforce guys dont seem to understand...

    Kaveri Engine

Guys - Could someone tell me when was Haveri contract finalised and when did we get the requirement of 75KN for a Kaveri engine? That might tell us the exact timeline of Kaveri engine as opposed to that stupid 1985 date.

I dont think , that is a plus point. You cant innovate without an experimental process

Bottomline is, Goalposts have been consistently changed by airforce. Honestly, you dont build an industry by behaving this way. Also, i should be said, that, GTRE could have done better. Did this wet thrust have the screeching problem ?
