The article itself says that India has known about the purchase since 2008. Obviously, this did not affect the Indo-Brazilian projects that have taken place since then.

Why are you posting news from three years ago? These will have next to no impact on the Indo-Brazilian relationship. We will continue to develop our regional airliner. When France sold Pakistan Mirage III/Vs, Agosta subs, Crotale SAMs, etc. it didn't prevent us from buying the Mirage 2000.

Why should Pakistan be proud of the JF-17? They didn't contribute a single component to the plane. It is a 100% Chinese fighter, with a Pakistani paint job. Our Su-30MKIs are far more "indigenous" than PAF JF-17s.

We also know something else about the J-10. We know that Burma had the choice of choosing between the J-10 or the MiG-29. Even though the J-10 was cheaper, Burma still went with the MiGs. Keep in mind that Burma has a very limited budget and is considered to be one of the most pro-Chinese...

Pakistan did not induct JF-17 with the intention of matching our Su-30s. Pakistan currently has no aircraft to match the Su-30 and won't for at least a decade, and by that time we will have FGFA and MMRCA. PAF F-16s can be compared to IAF Mirage 2000-Hs, and the J-10s in their pipeline can be...

Kurt Tank was working for the Indian gov when he designed the Marut, therefore the plane was designed by India... The designer's place of origin doesn't really matter.

Yeah, they are learning how to paint imported fighters :emot15: Seriously, what component of the JF-17 is made in Pakistan?? The fighter is 100% made in China. The only thing Pakistan is gaining is experience in assembling knocked-down kits. This is what HAL has been doing since the 1950s...

Maybe the MiG-15 really is far ahead than the F-86. Maybe the MiG-29 is better than the F-16 - if you ask me, an IAF MiG-29SMT beats a PAF F-16A any day of the week. But if you look at the combat records of both the MiG-15 and the MiG-29, they are dismal compared to their Western counterparts...

When did MiG-29s and Mirage 2000s become "anitque"? If anything is "antique" it is your J-10, which Burma rejected and chose MiG-29 even though the J-10 was cheaper. I guess that just goes to show how poor quality the J-10 is, that not even a poor country like Burma wants it. You guys are...

Because our Gnats shot down so many Pakistani F-86s that they became known as "Sabre Slayers", and in Korea it was proven that the F-86 was a better fighter than the MiG-15 (though it depends on pilot skill). By 1962 the MiG-15 was obsolete. Also, the J-5 was a MiG-17 copy, not a MiG-19 copy...

    JF-17 Thunder / FC-1 Xiaolong

It's not a big secret. The PLAAF in 1962 consisted mainly of MiG-15s and J-5s, while the IAF consisted of French Ouragans and Mystere IVs plus British Hawker Hunters and Gnats. The PLAAF had the numerical edge while the IAF had the technological edge. In that respect not much has changed...

What is the point of that? The LCA's role is to defend our airspace, not invade the airspace of others. For that we have Su-30s, MiG-29s, Jaguars, etc. In an actual war the LCA and JF-17 will most likely NOT meet each other in combat.

Because point-defence aircraft are designed to quickly take off, quickly climb to the altitude of the target, destroy the target, and then quickly land. Since point-defence aircraft generally have short ranges, they can't stay in the air on CAP for long and usually stay on the ground. For this...

Actually the Su-27 (which is what Su-30 is based on) saw combat in Ethiopia-Eritrea war, and shot down several MiG-29s with no losses. I never underestimated F-7, I'm sure that they are superior to early model MiG-21s. But not our Bisons.

What is there to defend? Even if JF-17 is an inferior fighter (which it is), I would have supported the PAF's decision to procure it if it was the best option available to them. But the fact that there are/were better options available makes me wonder why they even got the JF-17 in the...

Chinese aircraft have yet to be used in combat. so how can you say they have good performance?? No one knows the real capabilities of Chinese aircraft so far. This is off topic, but I believe an F-7 (Chinese MiG-21 copy) with Western avionics and BVR capability would be a far more suitable...

Aren't most PAF F-16s the Block 15 variant? Does that mean that they are of the same quality as the Junk Fighter-17?? If so the IAF will have an even easier job than expected.

Slave of USA? Which country is allowing American drone strikes on their own soil, even though their own citizens oppose it? Which country is begging the USA for billions in aid? Do I even need to answer? India's indigenous industries already makes far more products than Pakistan likely ever...
