Russia has worked with India in upgrading the Indian Navy kilos to use Indian Equipment & provided a lot of the base technical knowhow for the Arihant program as well. As far as next gen is concerned let me say that apart from the KILO 636.6 all other SSK designs are untested in combat .

The P75I is budgeted at some 60,000crores or approximately 12$bil. What we need is numbers more than anything else and this is how i think we can get it 4$Bil for ten new Kilos(Vietnam deal in 2009 was for 300$ mil each). If signed this year the boats can be simultaneously built at Russia and...

Actually this pic is of a Russian "revolver" UVLS for the Klub series. The VLS units we are using currently are of the box type. Revolver type VLS hold many more missiles under the surface but as with all mechanical units there is an issue of the revolver jamming sometimes.

You've gone upside down, Nirbhay is required for China. The Brahmos is enough to deter Pakistan. Anyhoo apparently DCNS just put in a request for a special approval for a 100% owned Indian subsidiary that will build SSKs with AIPs...

@NLD each Amur costs nearly 450$million for the Russians, we should be able to buy one for 600 $million. The 8 billion$ we have from P75I would buy us around 10Amur . So yes it could be done. Why I chose KILOs was simple. There is no better submarine to modify according to our needs today and...

You're considering six boats of P 75I ,The numbers I'm quoting are acquirable after cancelling P75I and using the 8$billion to buy 20 kilos off the shelf.

Vietnam bought six kilos for 1.8$billion in 2009, extrapolation from there says that out 8$billion P75I fund can buy us 20 kilos at least ( after adjustment for inflation).

We can easily build up a fleet of 44 submarines by 2025 and a fleet of 50+ boats by 2035. We need to be pragmatic and act today to fill immediate goals rather than wait to select an underwater wunderwaffe that may take more time to come than we may have ! My plan is simply to extend the...

We need numbers now more than anything else, i still think we are barking up the wrong tree trying to buy six examples of some Uber modern Wunderwaffe. What we need to do is buy twelve Kilos off the Shelf while building four more Scorpene in India.

He asked whether they can operate, not whether they would cause sonar operators to lose hearing, while simultaneously giving their entire crew cancer. The type 91 can go where it wants to, the crew might die of cancer and whales might run away from the IOR as it comes, but it still can go where...

Your post has two questions 1) how did China manage to build so many sub's? Answer- By good planning and implementation of submarine building schedules. This includes setting up and upgrading shipbuilding facilities and leveraging the strengths of a number of state owned enterprises. 2) can...

Th Good to know! Thank you for the clarification! So we're looking at ten scorpenes, and another six new build boats. A total of sixteen new boats in all. I'd also expect at least eight out of the current fleet of thirteen to remain in operation till 2030.looks like we're about to achieve the...

So we're going to have nine scorpenes in total with another six new sub's. That's a total of 15 boats with 11 having AIP . Super news! Now I just hope we scrap buying six slightly better sub's and instead go for twenty kilos with ten being built in India as KILO-MKI kinda like our own Yuan...

    Project-75I class SSK Submarines

Just to clarify I'd justify this by letting the Russians build us ten boats and build five each in PIPAVAV and Katupalli. Simultaneously we could try to develop our own SSK with the time the kilos will buy us!

Just putting a thought out there. The Pakistanis have just closed a deal with the Chinese wherein the Chinese will build them eight Yuan's . Four in China and Four in Pakistan simultaneously this will give the Pakistani navy a formidable 11 modern submarines by the end of the decade. We need to...
