I wasnt talking about myself, I hardly post on this thread anymore. I made a general observation. As far as African involvement goes , I don't think I've ever said that those are black ops. If at all I would've spoken about SF in Africa, it would've been Airborne Africa. As for MARCOS...

I didnt quote anyone in particular so chill, you don't have to take it personally. As for calling another person's opinion a "polished turd" well, that's exactly what I was talking about. You can be civil and have a discussion rather than converting everything to a slug fest. I beg to differ...

Oh come on, let's be honest here, it's not like a lot of discussion is encouraged on this thread in particular. The discourse on this thread has been hijacked by a few members of a certain viewpoint, who unfortunately have just the negative points to talk about, and go on repeating it over and...

There are no bulletproof helmets except the Patka as far as I know. ACH type helmets protect from fragments and shrapnel and such, with a far better coverage than the Patka.

if you want to compare NDS SF then compare them with SG. Info on the ops of either unit will be scant so its an exercise in futility anyway.

Since there was some debate about ANA SOF being "hardcore" yesterday on some other thread. https://sofrep.com/news/allies-enemies-or-just-useless-a-special-forces-operator-on-working-with-afghan-sof/

I think this comes against the backdrop of the recent events in France, where they can expect a lot more of lone wolf type, or even organised, well funded jihadi attacks.

Mindless comparison doesnt yield anything useful, only a misplaced sense of discontentment. This is as true for this thread as it is for life in general. Like I said, a comparison between gear and the tactics that flows from that gear is fine, comparing sizes is irrelevant. If you want to...

Cool your jets kiddo. I'm asking you, what is your point here with the constant comparison between various facets of US SOF and Indian Sf. Tactics and Equipment comparisons I get, what is the point in comparing sizes and deployments? It is just adding pages and pages to the thread without any...

In Colonel Prakash Katoch's book - Indian Special Forces , he had given a few layouts of how an Indian "SOCOM", if you will, could be structured. This is given in here - https://www.theweek.in/theweek/cover/prakash-katoch-special-forces-interview.html As far as I know, the new AFSOD is...

The entirety of the Mujahideen didnt become Taliban. It started from Mohammad Omar and the ones who were under him. A large bulk of the erstwhile Mujahideen went into Northern Alliance, which was under Massoud and were actually fighting the Taliban. Also, back when it was still Mujahideen, OBL...

Not Exactly. Survey vessels. I get the sense of sarcasm there. Gear is a very generic term. If you mean the gear that you see on the Operators, of course not. If you mean in-ops command infrastructure, C2I, SATCOM, specific tactics etc. of course its classified. Taliban were never US Puppets...

They cannot actually. VBSS are for boarding and seizing suspected vessels. And they are not commandos in the first place. When a vessel is taken over in international waters by pirates, and the crew has been taken hostage or is under the threat of being taken hostage, then its only a Naval...

That's the point. Like I said, this is coming from personal interaction with Ex-MARCOS. Nothing is in public domain as that's the point entirely. I missed the deployment of MARCOS in Somalia in '93. If I remember correctly, one the guys was awarded the Shaurya Chakra as well for Ops conducted...

    Indian Special Forces (archived)

That's incorrect. MARCOS has a lot of operations under their belt, including those carried out in Sri Lanka, Arakan Mountains and Nepal, but most of these ops are classified. I know of a few through some personal interactions, but cannot talk much on the details. Same goes for the SG as well...
