True to an extent-EVs are a woke status symbol in the West BUT (and this is just my fantasy maybe) I think behind all the green talk in india PMO is actually trying to reduce its dependence on all external entities and energy is by far the biggest one of those. renewables, nuclear,’green’...

Even hydrogen would create the need for radically different filling infrastructure than exists today. Hydrogen is definitely the future but the tech isn’t quite there today and the infra is even further behind. + for NE I’d have thought it would be logical to aggressively pursue hydro power?

One thing that bugs me about the EV push, is India’s electricity generation expanding at a pace that will be able to keep up with the massive increase in EVs? Don’t want to go back to the load shedding era

I don’t even think it’s as simple as that 1) most of those Punjabi builds come in at a similar price to OEM products when finished 2) with proper practices all such loads can be transported in modern looking trucks- just see how it’s done in Europe and the US. Punjabi culture is just its own...

With logistics getting huge investment from PLI and FDI expansion in recent years along with boom in E-commerce the standards of this sector are going to go up hugely in the near term as well as the fact that roadside amenities and roads are improving so much. It won’t be such a dirty backwards...

In terms of Punjab I think the trucks reflect that the truckers generally sleep in the cabs and do longer routes, a lot of the Kerela good builds seem to be from larger corporate operators. Also Punjabis have a pretty extreme case of bling obsession I believe there’s a new truck code coming in...

Kerela and TN seem have far more professional truck body builders than nonsense you see coming out of UP and Punjab which add trinkets and chrome as features

Yes but that's in a much lower price band, doesn't Maruti sell something like 10,000 hatchbacks a month?

That's what I meant, yes TATA is seeing growth but it is still punching well below its competitors, toppling them should be the target. 6000+/month are crazy figures!

I meant whether it would be based on TATAs new AMP (Advanced Modular Platform)

I heard the Hexa was having a sluggish sales performance (especially compared to its competitors) despite the trends being positive.

+ @republic_roi97 will the new premium TATA hatchbak be based on TATA's new common platform?

Yeah that's what I think but I am expecting signficant design differences for the Q501/2 from any JLR product, it simply wouldn't be a sensible decision to have high similarity with the JLR designs- that would only hurt the JLR brand. Look at all other TATA products, they are entirely unique...

Looking foreward to it, hope TATA pulls out all the stops (design, features, power, build quality, equipment etc) for this model, they need to come in with a BANG so as to catch the attention of the market, not go for a soft launch as they tried with the Aria. If they are succesful it will be...

I would be very surprised if the TATA Q501/2 looks this similar to the LR Discovery Sport, IMHO this is a testing mule for the engine but I expect the TATA Q501/2 to look VERY different to any JLR and inline with the rest of the TATA family, it's not like TATA don't have an excellent in-house...
