Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

I have no idea why India is suddenly obsessed with UCP long since it was ridiculed and withdrawn out of service from its developer’s nation. it works somewhat for MARCOs in their naval ops given that the IAF has very little manpower that will ever see ground combat I guess it’s a bit irrelevant...

Why can’t they force feed it in 2018? 2020? 2022? They have the largest mandate in Indian political history and they won’t tell their military subordinates the sky is blue? there’s no leadership inside MoD,the services just do what they like and more often than not it is devoid of any sense or...

Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

Yeah old news. In 2018 IAF said 12 LCA MK.2 squadrons. In 2022 it’s now 6 All to get their MRFA fantasy fulfilled. I don’t know what’s worse- the IAF being this out of touch with reality of the MoD/GoI sitting by and watching this farce play out. Surely no one with any sense inside IAF/MoD/GoI...

I don’t know if you’re serious or not. India doesn’t see Brazil as anything other than a small player, they certainly aren’t looked at as a strategic partner. Brazil is known for stagnation, they basically are today where they were 20-30 years ago and likely where they will be in 20 years from...

Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

Who cares? Brazil is an almost insignificant country globally and has basically failed to level up for 3 decades now. They are a big fish in a tiny pond that’s it. They don’t have the power of even a single command of the Indian military

The woman commentator is a total ret@rd, I sincerely hope she isn’t an IAF officer, if she is that’s beyond embarrassing C-1-3-zero? Her narration is disjointed and basically nonsense

I can see the C295 taking over from the DO228 in most of its current military (and limited civilian) applications in India. It has seemed like for a while the Indian users bought the DO228 because they didn’t really have an other choice and just needed something, that changes now.

So apparently the Bangladesh army already has ordered 1 C295W, if they order anymore it can come from the Indian JV and as this deal includes local MRO for Indian C295s, it can easily be the regional MRO hub DRDO seems to love the Airbus family (A330 for AWACS(I), A319 for their new FTB...

Think history has shown that once something is in production in India it gets jumped on. already the ICG wants 6 MMMA based on the platform initially IAF will definitely be ordering more of them IN has an outstanding requirement for a ‘medium’ MPA- basically the MMMA There was an open...

the ~20 or so IL-76/78 will be given a deep upgrade to keep them flying another 15-20 years. This will buy the IAF time to wait and see what USAF does about replacing their C-17s, there was some talk of reopening the line as much of their C-17 fleet has been burned out thanks to the WoT and they...

Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

What does this even mean? Outside of the UNSC P5 india has the largest strategic airlift capability on the planet Issues: AN-32s are very outdated Too few C17s ordered IL-76s still waiting for their MLU IAF is superior qualitatively and quantitatively and is one of the few air forces to...

    1) when will contract actually be signed? 2) they only cleared the 56 for the IAF what about the 6 MMMA for the ICG? Regarding the AN-32, C295 is a decent replacement for it, I’m sure they’ll be ordering more then 56 to take over from the more aged AN-32s but the IAF seems insistent on getting...

We will see, Russians do a good job of turning relatively simple efforts FUBAR and fleecing India in the meantime. As for timelines, P-15B has been screwed why? Because of RUSSIAN supply delays (of engine shafts) causing 2+ year delay. P-17A seems to be on schedule for both MDL and GRSE...

Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

These are multi multi million dollar pieces of advanced military hardware, not beat up trucks. Russians are notoriously unprofessional, IAF wants to ape them? Then they cry that IAF is not up to “their standards”, this is their standards?

If the IN orders more unit cost will Fall considerably. 17A is worth the cost difference anyway, it is far more capable. Define “immediately” Russians haven’t ever stuck to timelines with India. FYI it wasn’t Russian or Ukrainian money but INDIAN, Russians used the money India paid for...

The state of those “upgraded” MiGs is disturbing, paint is already peeling? And how come these UPG don’t have TOPSIGHT-I HMD that is part of the upgrade package?

For the price they just aren’t worth it especially when IN has FAR more capable frigates on order (P17A). It’s totally unnecessary to be procuring foreign frigates at this point.
