It’s just another in a long line of US-India ‘co-development/production’ deals that goes nowhere and only exist to be announced during 2+2/leaders summits. Still waiting for the ISTARs, till now all DTTI has delivered is some cold weather clothing (even that I’m not sure ever got ordered)

Red sign seems to indicate it’s on test? Don’t think I’ve seen confirmation of actual orders, hope to god IA uses some of their slush funds, sorry ‘emergency procurement’ allowance for a decent amount of these, what an awesome capability to have at a company level.

The armour protection of this for what it is is perfectly adequate, I doubt india will be getting into a deep insurgency on foreign soil that will require all troops to be moving around in V shaped hulls. but not having a RCWS or at the very least some kind of modern turret on top but that WW2...

These guys haven’t fought a war clearly. No turret protection? No buttstock for the MMG? Straight out of WW2 effort

Yellow scheme says these are going to the East it will be a long time before they get to RR, they’ll be going to conventional units first especially on the LAC

Is it Mahindra’s IP? I thought I saw that it was a Re-badge job which seems to be all of Mahindra defence’s portfolio just don’t understand why these clowns won’t order the WhAP in large numbers

No hard kill APS on a ~25t ‘tank’? Not even slat armour the IA really has no battle sense, they are the epitome of a peacetime army, they’ll have to learn the hard way. they don’t seem physically capable of adopting practices from others, they have to taste the pain themselves first.

Indeed. WhAP by design (as spec’d by the IA) is amphibious, the units delivered to the IA were spec’d (again by the IA) to not be amphibious it’s getting very hard to believe this is sheer incompetence

Isn’t this back to square 1? Remember how the original FICV was meant to have tracked and wheeled variants? This was back in ~2015, then they broke it up, Kestral/WhAP emerged and FICV proceeded as a tracked only proposal for industry. Now back to this and still not even the EOI is out...

What’s this for now? WhAP exists, Abhay MK.2 exists how many projects without orders are going to be churned out?

Official report said 1300 within 4 years. Unless they mean T0+36+48 months

Why? There would’ve been an official release if so

    Indian Army Armored Vehicles

So weird that we haven’t seen the ASLV at all as of today. Weren’t Mahindra meant to deliver all 1300 within 4 years? Doesn’t look like a single unit has been handed over to date

They’d be better off building the Kestral as a fully modular platform- use it to mount a 105mm gun and another as a NAMICA carrier, heavy mortar carrier etc etc instead this AON/RFI nonsense dreamed up by looking at foreign OEM brochures. I don’t think the IA even knows how they want to employ...

    Indian Army Armored Vehicles

That’s a secondary issue (that’ll be apparent very soon though of course- asking for all the performance of an MBT but on sub-APC footprint, typical IA bs) but I’m more interested where the doctrine to employ this has even come from, is the idea that the light tank will be acting as fire...

    Indian Army Armored Vehicles

The more I look into armoured vehicles the more I question the IA’a demand for a light tank (other than the fact that the Russians started pushing the Sprut), what calibre gun will it have? Will it have hard kill APS? As a tank it’ll have to be designed to go up against other tanks but a sub 25t...

Haven’t seen much evidence he’s worthy of a cabinet post, he was made MoS and hasn’t been particularly outstanding there. I also think he is too much of a loudmouth for the role and it also isn’t a good idea to have an def min and CDS has IA backgrounds
