HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

Attack helos with good control while hovering and firing would serve better purpose. quick target acquisition fire and moving to the next. A 25-50 kmph difference is not going to make any difference in my opinion as helos are not going to engage in dog fights.

Maverick speed etc is designed as per requirement. The fastest aircraft ever flew in the late 50s and no one has since gone that fast since. Reason, not required.

At 20000 ft cannon and unguided rockets should be good enough.

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

The more technically sound people pls explain why the twin tails along besides the tail rotor on either side. Also the landing gear doesn't look retractable. I know you cannot retract at 15 mtrs flight but I think the design looks like you cannot retract the landing gear. if it is a non...

Stealth like commanche is a little too far fetched isn't it? You would hear the tail rotors from miles. Never know with the use of composites maybe you can reduce the radar signature.

Yeah it does look like a mean machine. Going by the past record of hal, you could well expect a white or something that doesn't look like a fighting machine.

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

I can see the gun in the front. The LCH is not weaponised yet. So don't know if this pic is of the LCH. Not the one that flew yesterday at least.

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

The chopper flew at a hight of 15 mtrs and did some basic maneuvering like going forward and back and side to side, apart from other systems checks. The 2015 deadline will be kept. I have heard sources put a 2013 deadline. The main problem is weapons integration. But one the weapons...

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

Why is it so hard to imagine that it won't be ready by 15? As far as expertise goes, HAL has good as far as choppers go. The Dhruv is an example despite all the negative publicity. 5 years is a long enough time for HAL to come up with a winner.

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

Getting pics would require someone sitting on a high rise close to hal airport with a high zoom camera answer waiting for the next flight. If you get caught by intel guys, that would be the end of that,
