The Airforce has not joined the project, atleast not officially. Its just the Navy thats been sponsoring it. But because the Airforce version is not as complicated as the Naval version, the Airforce can even join at a later date once the platform has attained significant maturity.

That is not true, canards dont necessarily contribute to high RCS, J-20 features planform alignment. If that were true then Northrop Grumman wouldn't have proposed a delta-canard derivate of the ATF/YF-23 for the NAT program and of course Boeing's 6th generation fighter is also a delta-canard...

Air Force has its eyes fixed on Tejas MK 2 and AMCA, which is going to be ready by around the same time TEDBF joins the Navy. Also its easier to develop the Air Force version than the Naval version, so IAF can even fund the project at a later stage should the need arise.

But Didnt Navy actually approach ADA for a carrier based AMCA back in 2016? If thats something Navy wants, I seriously dont see any need for TEDBF.

I dont think TEDBF is going to get ahead of anything more than just a technology demonstrator. Navy wouldn't want a 4+ Gen TEDBF when AMCA is just around the corner.
