Seriously, when Bush was in office there was a great outcry about steps taken to increase security. Obama ran for office promising he would undo all the injustices of Bush. Well, Guantanamo is still in business.

It was Leon Panetta, Secretary of Defense, who said China and India are "rising threats" to the US. Panetta is a political appointee. His first concern as SecDef was making homosexuals feel welcome in the US military. He was out of his depth previously as CIA director.

Do you think the West's need for oil is too simple a reason for that? In the US there is an argument that we need to develop our own resources. The environmentalists (e.g. "global warming" believers) object to that, and the silly Obama administration puts obstacles in the path of oil drilling in...

I can tell you that as a natural-born citizen and resident of the US, that Americans look at India as a friend. Indians in America are successful but modest and kind people from everything...

Understood. You may have noticed that many threads on other subjects go "off-topic" and become discussions about Indo-US relations. The existence of this thread may solve that problem and lead to a valuable exchange of opinions. I, for one, had no idea how many areas of discontent have emerged...
