Its still in development and most/all information comes from Shukla ji, so we have to wait a bit to know about barrel life I guess. On present specs it is still a world class product but nothing to really beat our chests as seems to be the case with everything Indian over here.

Apparently mod warning is being ignored. So let me shed my two paise. Hope it isnt deleted by the mod junta . Weight - It is actually heavier than other comparable guns by 2-3 tons. Range - lower than the only comparable 25l chambered gun on the G6-52ER which gives 50km with EFRB-BB shells...

Well, we are all grown ups here. I don't think that banning profanity - not directed at people - is mature.

1 caliber equals the bore width of the gun. Its not called calibers. That was just for emphasis. More effective... maybe. But we aren't going to get the cutting edge performance of the new gun. BTW what is the firangi doing with this gun. Is this ours or not?

Me stupid. 105mm is excellent for suppression fire and in Anti-Personnel roles. There can be specialized rounds for hardened targets. They don't have to deal with Himalayan roads. We do.

Now that Denel is out of the black list, we seriously need to consider its G7 howitzer. Its 105mm L52 gives equivalent range as the M777 and it does some nasty damage too. http://www.army-guide.com/eng/product1940.html

What caliber are you looking for? L52 will probably make it weigh around the same as the 155mm M777. Ammo is lighter and smaller but still. Grossly inadequate for waht?

The article only speaks for the lightweight 155mm L39. Not the 105mm Garuda. Garuda looks small. I wouldn't bet on more than 10km range. And yes, there does exist a 105mm gun with 30 km range. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G7_howitzer With Denels V-LAP round, it goes upto 36km. It is L52 and...

IF it breaks down. Is there any data for its MTBF? As I said, I don't want to enter in this debate. About FH-77B, this really happened? Gun usage had to be restricted to 2 hours even at that rate? Archer carries two mags - 20 rounds each which can be emptied in 2.5 minutes, Also 77BW has a...
