Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

I guess that several airforces would like to get some of these Taiwanese Mirage 2000. Probably Argentina and Peru. In Africa I have a feeling that Ethiopia might be interested.

How kind :tongue2: Thanks for posting. India needs more force multipliers ... that is the better part of the article. The rest seems totally biased. Does not even imagine that Chinese and Pakistani force multipliers shall be easy preys for Meteor armed Rafale.

French Air Force has not lost a single Rafale since Dec 2007. Just saying ... Of course there were a few crashes implying Rafale M of the French Navy. Nobody is perfect.

Most probably it has (Integrated Counter Measures System) ICMS MK 4. See : https://www.thalesgroup.com/sites/default/files/database/d7/asset/document/4_pages_mirage_2000_sans_vernis.pdf?_ga=2.74448401.221258979.1585773218-1289191262.1585773218 Hey, whole French ADA and French Navy rely on...

The Mirage 2000 upgrade is critical imho. It adds so much punch with its newer radar and Mica missile. A totally underrated move from GOI and IAF, should deserve more credit.

Rafale all the way  (you are surprised ?) It is either France or Russia. Americans don’t give away any stealth technology. Not even to Japanese or Israelis. Smart move by IAF, linking AMCA to a new procurement. If the source is correct ! EDIT : btw, how many jets ?? Order has to be big...

If Livefist info about IAF favouring a single platform for both IAF and Indian Navy is correct, then the face saver would be a tender with four fighters only : F-35 , Rafale, F/A 18 and Gripen. Add tech transfer and Make in India requirements and F-35 has basically no winning chances. Such a...

Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

How many years before IAF manages to make a choice between 6 fighters ? How many years before the GOI manages to conclude negotiations with the selected OEM ? And last but not the least, how many years before the first MMRCA 2.0 plane is inducted ? This is getting ridiculous. Some strong lobby...

MMRCA rerun would be the most absurd decision at this stage. Can’t believe this is on the table. Feeling so sorry for all F16 - Gripen supporters :hehe:

My source was from 2012. But things have not moved a lot since . Here is the latest info relevant to the deal offered to Belgium http://www.defense-aerospace.com/articles-view/release/3/190048/federal-shutdown-forces-us-to-reveal-cost-of-f_35-offer-to-belgium.html From Giovanni de Briganti ...

:hehe: Poor Lockheed reps will enter a new dimension of pain when IAF sends its list of custom modifications for F-35 . If they survive it then it will be fun to negotiate price too. I have read stuff about US gov procuring its F-35 at $200 mil a plane with engines and spare parts

It is not paid media at all . I have been reading Karnad about Rafale for a long time and my conclusion is : nobody in his/her right mind would want to pay this guy ! See what the risks are ;) Edit : sme illustration in this good piece...

Maybe Trappier's maths are like this now : if (126=36) then (200 =57) :playball: You may be right about French production. French politicians quicker to cut on defence than anything else . Perhaps Rafale ´ s future is with India now ;)

Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

Not sure how French are more stubborn than Indian negotiators hehe .. but okay, message conveyed. There is no way than a 8,8 bn $ order for only 36 jets makes sense without a repeat order including a big MII component. But that is definitely not happening in 2017 .

I think this is worth of printing on a wall and buying darts ! I always hated ALL the anglo-saxon aviation medias for being so contemptuous with all things not American/ British generally. Turns out they still haven't learnt anything looking at what they say about Tejas, right at the moment...

Not willing to sound sarcastic here but I believe the RM also said some months ago that a choice would be announced before end of 2016 for a twin-engine fighter line of production under Make in India program. Do we have to take him seriously this time ? The mystery deepens ... is Tejas Mk ii...

Of course, Bharat Kharnad is not going to mention than the Rafale deal has a TOT component ! Some of the technology used on Rafale can be transfered for Tejas without any problem.

But they are not so cheap ! Remember the failed attempt of Pakistan at getting 8 extra F16 Block 52 ? $ 700 million for 8 jets. And that is really the lowest price you can expect from Lockheed ( no tech transfer, no offset whatsoever ! ) And you want the Viper of course.

You can get lot of extra Rafale instead of these rumored 200 Gripen/ F16 ! My 0,02 cents thougts hehe. Simplify logistics chain when you can.

Sir , I am afraid I have to react here ! I am NOT impressed by Mig 21 s either. But please credit Israeli Mirages III (nickname Shahak ! ) when you mention the Six Days War.. The F-4 Phantom joined the Israeli Air Force in 1969 only. Have a look at...
