I was little bit wrong. without mmrca also we will have enough numbers as amca mk1 will roll out in the meantime. so actually we will only need a replacement of MKI and that also won't start to phase out before 2035/2040 or so.

if IN has reduced requirements from 57 to 36, then there is no way that tedbf will be feasible. 150 jets were break-even for this project (100 for N and 50 for AF). now you can't start a new fighter program for a requirement of mere 36 jets. probably IAF is banking on 200 mwf and 114 mmrca...

any official confirmation? if AF backs out then will the tedbf project be feasible? probably AF is banking on mmrca. so there should be either 171 Rafales or SH (114+57). so an investment of about $30/35B at this point of time, will it be possible?

just asking, is there any chance for tedbf/orca to be a heavy catagory aircraft as after MKI we won't have any. (haven't gone through all the posts of this thread yet. so please ignore if it's a repeat).

ott : what's the basic problem with MiG 29K? it's the problem of only MiG 29K or whole MiG 29 fleet?
