@lcafanboy If K-4 Mk.I is capable of covering ~4,000 km, then K-4 Mk.II will be capable of target in between 5,000-7,500 km. I think, the range of K-5 is 7,500-10,000 km and not of K-6. S-5 SSBNs will have 12 tubes for K-5s. K-6 will be the longest range SLBM with less than 13,000 km. I am sure...

S3, S4 and S4* are of same size and displacement above 8,000 tons. They have double ammunition capability than Arihant. S5 SSBNs can carry even double ammunition compared to S3/S4/S4*. S3/S4/S4* = 8 K-4 SLBMs S5 = 12 K-5 SLBMs

As this issue is over, it means now work on INS Aridhaman will be done on full throttle.

Yeah, I watched today at 1:30pm the special 15min. talks in Headlines Today while taking lunch. They were showing the lunch video of K-4 from underwater which takes place on 31st Mar. But unlike other SLBM, the video shows dual smoke release emits from K-4. I have not seen anything like that before.

ATV Arihant's & Aridhaman's primary role to deter Pakistan. K-4 can cover only half of China! To cover whole land, you have to be close to China's shore. And that's not possible for now because both ATVs will be very noisy and will be detected. Until K-5 arrives, we can't have fully fledged sea...

Good news! Hull fabrication of third Arihant ship (S4) is completed. Arihant perhaps will be commissioned couple of months later. Aridhaman will be commissioned in 2018. Thus, 1 SSBN will enter in every 2 years.

@warrior monk, that's what I had said earlier! You can't throw a tennis ball as high as a pingpong ball. It is just common sense. I told we needed bigger sub for that.

@warrior monk, if such a thing is even possible, then how many 55k ton SLBMs can INS Arihant carry? I suppose only 1! And how can you cap the height of a heavy SLBM? They have long ranges. The heavier (and long range) a SLBM becomes, the more height it takes. Is not it so?

Thanks @warrior monk & @Gessler for replying. American Ohio class ssbn displaces 16,000tn when surfaced. Each can carry 24 Trident-II SLBMs (Wt: 59,000kg, Range: 12,000km). French Triomphant class ssbn displaces 12,000tn when surfaced. Each can carry 16 M51 SLBMs (Wt: 52,000kg, Range: 10,000km)...

@Gessler, thanks for replying, but I will not believe you. The K-5 range, which you provided, may be correct. But how can a 20,000 tn SSBN carry just 12 x K-5 SLBMs? It's way too low. 12,000 tn is just spot right. Look simillar weight class of Chinese SSBN and compare. They are still ahead of...

@Gessler & @warrior monk, S3 (Aridhaman), S4 will be of same size. I am assuming close to 8,000 tn. There may be another S4*, but it will be of same size too. They will carry 8 x K-4 SLBMs. Then, 3 S5 series subs will be built. Each will carry 12 x K-5 SLBM. Their displacement will be 12,000 tn...
